Could I harvest a couple of small buds and quick dry them by placing the buds at the end of my ducting? I have about 5 foot of ducting and the air coming out is gentle and slightly warm. Would the buds be usable?

Yes, that should work.
I find the best way to quick dry a nug or two is to sit it in front of my laptop exhaust fan, or stick it in front of my electric heater.
Drys within an hour or 2 and gets you high still.
Obviously the taste and smell isn't very good, but that's not really the goal when one quick drys.

I did the microwave on defrost for a while...but now, i love using the toaster oven. I clip a bottom nug. then snip it up a bit (Trying to get closed to ground weed without using grinder). Then bake at 150 or 175 degrees for 20-30 minutes. Then let sit for 5 minutes. ready to go

Toaster oven on 150-175F is what I do too.
If you can dry naturally for a day first, it will make a huge difference too.
Just putting the buds in your ducting should dry them out in a few days, which would be fine, but probably wouldn't dry in a few hours.
