QUICK QUESTION ABOUT CLAMP LIGHTS! please help

can you remove the alum. shield/reflector from the 10-15$ clamp lights that you can place CFL's in from hardware stores? - and use just the socket?

i just need a socket that's already wired to plug in and i can just plug in, place bulb in, and use thanks!

Most of them are actually three pieces. The cord/socket. The clamp that goes around the socket. And the hood, which generally screws into the socket and is completely removable. I use them with the hood. They are really cheap at the big home depot type stores.
