Quick question... PLEASE help!!!

Does this look right? I planted it a few days ago and it never broke the surface of the soil. I softly dug the soil to check on the development of the seed and I found it had quite a long root and as you can see, has started to develop tiny leaves I think. Anyhow, this entire thing was under the surface so I re-planted it as it is in the picture because I was worried it might die if it wasn't able to break the surface. Advice please!!! Have I done a silly thing by re-planting it like this or is it meant to be above the soils surface at this stage?

dont dig it back up, they are stronger than you think and have no problems breaking the surface by themselfs and sometimes they just take awhile. looks pretty normal at this point....if your here asking questions already im sure we'll be seeing a lot of you lol. welcome to RIU!

At that stage of growth it should only take a day to a day and a half for the seedling to point to the heavens and open her legs. If nothing happens by then I'm afraid she's probably not going to make it. But don't toss it, give it time...

Agreed. I planted some bag seed up at the family cabin this summer, straight into the earth. it rained and rained for days after and when it finally did dry out the ground was like a solid mud block. Sure enough one of the little guys made it through lol... Turned out to be a male though, little bastard.

just leave it alone and let it grow

Thanks. I've got three plants growing all together. I have two currently outside as they are still seeds in a small pot plant. I live in tropical Australia and get a lot of sun every day. At the moment though, I've moved the one pictured inside. I've taken apart my lava lamp to use the light for growing. I'll include a picture so you can see what I mean, since I'm not sure if this is a good or bad idea and I don't know much about the bulb other than it produces light and gets very hot during use. (I've kept the plant a safe distance so it hopefully won't burn it to death...)

Is using the lava lamp too much at this point? It's less than 1 CM out of the soil, I just thought having some light on the plant would help its early growth. It would probably get enough sun light outdoors, and I plan to move it outdoors later anyway since I can't sustain keeping this thing in my closet, so I'm just kinda experimenting with the lava lamp at this point to see what results I can get, not sure if I'm being stupid though... maybe I should move the plant back outside?

What are your plans for lighting once it's out of the seedling stage? From that distance I doubt the lava lamp is doing anything for the plant. Why don't you get yourself some CFL's ? They're inexpensive and will do the job just fine.

How old are ya?

lolol come on man you cant use a lava lamp to grow with. keep them all outside and let them do their thing. if it gets too cold or something put them indoors in a WINDOW not under a lava lamp....
