rabbit poo,kelp meal,

So my growing buddy was one of the only ppl who laid eyes on my 1st organic grow...he was just as amazed as i was...and after growing for 20 some odd years he finally started taking some advice i was giving him..he has been on here reading and learning ever since... He is starting to realize it doesnt cost as much as i spent my first grow ..but we learn from our mistakes... Im trying to help him build a good cheap soil... And some very good sources told me about a simple mix of peat, rabbit poo, and kelp meal... I plan on helping him get that mix started for this year ...and i can read on the web

Oops... I accidentally subed that too early... But i can read on the web about what to mix and how much but iv always got soild good advice in this forums so ill just ask.... Qhat else would be the best for this soil mix but kept to a minimum... I plan on adding perlite or something to help aerate... But i just want a simple mix to go with th rabbit poo and kelp meal because we have an abundance of both.... I have some ideas but i just want some opinions... Thank you for your time

I won't speculate, but be patient, there are some rabbit poo specialists on here lol. Good luck with the grow man!

Rabbit poo is the shit! If you pick up a bag of rabbit food at the pet store and look at the back you'll recognize the nutrients the rabbit is getting just so happen to be all the essential nutrients for growing plants. And unlike chicken or cow shit there is no composting or aging necessary. You can throw the shit right into your soil out of the rabbits ass. If you're getting rabbit litter more than straight rabbit nuggets (it all depends on how the hutch you're getting them from is set up), I would compost it first. Or at least rinse it first to get any excess salts from the urine out.

A cheap potting soil made out of peat, or composted forest materials with no fertilizers added would be perfect for mixing with the rabbit manure. Or you can make your own potting soil using aeration and peat or something like it. If using something acidic like peat I would just have some dolomite lime or oyster shell flour on hand to raise your soil pH just a touch and make sure you're good on calcium. Especially if you're using r/o water.

O yea.. I def know about rabbit turds lol... I have used them in my grows for quite some time.. And as for rabbitt feed.. Iv actually threw some into my compost after i found some that didnt use and fats... Its good stuff... But would i be better off mixing w a decent cheap potting soil or the peat.....and i know kelp has like what.. 72 or some odd nutes in it... Im not exactly sure.. But besides a buffer would you mix anything else in the initial mix.... Something with some C correct?...im just wondering what would be the best cheapest sourcefor what else i need... Ty again guys

Also what would be the best measurement per cf of everything

The cheap potting soil is just gonna be peat and aeration, if you go the peat route you're gonna have to add aeration. So no matter what way you go you're gonna end up with the same thing, it's just do you wanna buy it yourself or get it ready to go. As for the kelp, you're adding it more for the growth hormones and fulvic/humic acids (only dry kelp tho) than the nutrient content. By C you mean calcium right? Rabbit shit has calcium sulfate (most poop does), calcium phosphate, and small bits of calcium carbonate as well. And the buffer you add is full of calcium carbonate (which does the buffering).

If I were to add anything it would be Langbeinite(sulpomag) or sulfate of potash. It's not necessary for a good harvest but I've had more consistent and visually impressive trichomes in grows where a potassium boosting mineral is applied.

Rabbit shit really is a great all purpose fertilizer. You don't need anything else, other things if used should be used to increase soil tilth.

3 parts peat, one part aeration or 2 parts peat, 1 part aeration.

Or even parts peat, aeration, and compost.

For the rabbit shit I've always top dressed. 1/4 cup for small plants, whole cup for big ones. If you mixed in the soil I'd say probably 1/2 cup to a cup per cubic foot.

Sulfate of potash or Langbeinite I would do 1/4 cup per cubic foot.

1/2 cup per cubic foot for the kelp.

Peat or coco, perlite/lava rock/growstone, rabbit poo, kelp, worm castings, alfalfa meal, crab meal, langbenite. I like down to earth products personally and you can find applacation rates on there site.

Btw down to earths bio-live is awsome. add that to your peat/coco, aeration, rabbit poo/worm castings.

i just picked up some bio-live to incorporate into my mixes for a bit and see if it helps anything. I checked the list of ingredients, pretty standard organic inputs, and inoculated with some organisms... basically an all purpose with some beneficials. We'll see how the next batch of soil runs!

So sounds like my old pal won't have to add much to it...awesome...I love using kelp meal..I used the happy frog products..dry...for awhile and they did great..but after I picked up separate ingredient/frets it was just a lot better IMO..kelp kicks all kinda ass...and I have 5 50 lb bags of alfalfa seeds I'm gonna grow this year..well not all of them.
But I'll feed it to the rabbits and compost it..might make some kinda teas out it too..I posted another q in the organic forum..rasta or shluby..anyone...if u get time tell me what u think..it's about my soil I'll be using...think th headliner is like 3/4 run 3 yo soil...I'm not saying that the info stoned monkey gave me if wrong lol so don't get mad at me..I just honestly like multiple opinions..thanks for the big help guys

I just picked up some rabbits in a deal i made on some mini pigs.... how much of this massive amount of waste these things make can I add per gallon of a mix? I will have a LOT lol.. wow I have too many animals...

I mixed it in the soil before but I can't remember what the exact measurements were...but top dressing works really good for me...I'd say a cup or so per cf...maybe more... someone correct me please lol

If you can grow some alfalfa and other good stuffs like that your rabbits will poo a lot more ..I know mine do...clover and alfalfa make them shit like a goose... plus you'll know exactly what's in his turds

I just went back through my old convos cause I asked this very q to grease monkey man when I mixed my soil a couple yrs back...I finally found it...he said about 2 cups per 5 gal or about a hand full per gal... and I'd def trust him.. it worked awesome for me.. biggest plants iv ever grown

What's it worth? I know someone that raises rabbits and sells pellets. $5 for 50 lb. Maybe get a break if buying in bulk.
