Radiant heat and ambient temperature

Hi guys.

So I just popped some new beans and I've got a question about temperature. I've got these babies in a closet under a 4 foot 4 bulb T5. It's definitely a bit warmer than I want it to be, but I'm thinking (hoping) it's not too excessive. My question is this. How much radiant heat directly under a light can sprouts handle compared to the ambient temperature of the room? For example, when my thermometer is directly under the light at the same level as the plants, the temperature is 29 degrees celsius. But when I move the thermometer out from under the light for a few minutes, the ambient temperature of the closet sits at around 25 degrees.

So I'm wondering, can plants tolerate more radiant heat directly under the light as long as the air temperature of the room is several degrees cooler? Do ambient temperature and radiant temperature affect plants differently? I have a small fan blowing over the tops of the plants, just enough to make them move the tiniest bit. When I put my hand directly under the light and above the plants it feels cool and not the least bit uncomfortable. The plants seem happy enough, but I was kinda curious about this. Six of them are Medicine Man from Mr. Nice, and two are Purple Kush from Crop King. The nicest of the two Purple Kush will be impregnated by the most impressive Medicine Man stud. I want to give them a good start to life.

A lot. If you can put your hand under the light and it doesn't start getting uncomfortably hot, it's probably not too much radiant heat.

this is how I see it....you have 8 very healthy looking seedlings that are doing about as good as it gets, so don't finger poke what's working well

I keep a small PC fan running beside the young seedlings, but not directly blowing on them...it all depends on your conditions/environment

I try to keep the temps reasonable, at times they run high and other times low, never seems to make a huge impact either way, as long as you are in the ballpark

Makes sense. I guess until I see a reason to believe they're not happy with their situation, I'll just leave well enough alone. I messed up my last run of seedlings and stunted them pretty badly, so I'm just being extra cautious this time.
