RAR vs ZIP

7zip is a great compression, but as with .zip, .rar, tar.gz, .cab -- I think it depends mainly on the environments you need to be worried about. If you are Windows and you know you are passing to another Windows box, 7zip or zip will work right out of the box. But if you are going to and from different boxes, ie. Windows to Linux or Mac (a flavor of linux) -- then you can use anything, because Linux will generally have all the tools needed to uncompress your files.

Yea man I hear that... whenever I build a new system, one of the first things I install is WinRAR. I actually made a utility CD with a bunch of small apps, codecs, and drivers I use on my systems.

If you couldn't tell, Im a computer nerd. I have more electronics than I know what to do with.

Right on Puffer -- My profession is strictly coding and managing, my hobby is building boxes (IT). I go between Java, Python, Flex... and lately doing a shit ton of JavaScript (nightmare). I've been passing much of my work to my team in India though. Im trying to migrate into a more management role now. I think its time for me to move on...

My brother that is super interesting.
The computer industry is a biatch ... lots of stress ...
highly competitive and innovative field .... which will pay dividend
but at a high price ...

Look at Crytek
O my GOD !

;(

In the Past I had a pleasure of working
for Oracle(code) than Dell (sales)... and Microsoft ... then I went IT and hardware (building rigs 'hight end ' and servers ...)
and now I just sit back and watch/use/admin/sys ... and smile.

Get all the software you need HERE
click next to software you need ... download one installer .... then everything installs by itself ..... no toolbars .....
super fast.

Well the equation to make the whole computer function flawlessly is more complicated than choosing the best video card
as you have to be able to provide enough power and address heat build up .... so your whole architecture
plays a big role.

If you are choosing these video cards .... what is your purpose of use ??

Look at comparison specs one vs the other
Have a look Here in terms of performance

Killer - 1gb gpu is good enough these days, just make sure you have at least 4gb ram ( i would suggest 8 if you find a solid mobo for it ) Radeon makes a solid card, Ive been using them for a decade now...
