:joint: HI :joint:

:joint: I would like to know if anyone know how to get 100% female seeds when breeding :joint:

:joint: I would also like your opinions on weather i could grow with cfls all around the plants, like cfls above at the sides and under the plant :joint:

:joint: I was wondering if i could possibly get one plant to about ten meters cubed :joint:

:joint: Also could i vegitate a plant for five years or so :joint:

:joint: Regards Carribean Blue :joint:

Hi,
:joint:You can expose a flowering female to certain conditions i.e. manipulating the photoperiod, using gibberellic acid, and other stresses to cause the female to develop male flowers. Allow this hermaphrodite to pollinate itself and the resulting seeds will have female tendencies. But I don't know if it is possible to get 100% females.
:joint:You could use CFL's to keep a plant in a vegetative state as long as you provide the proper photoperiod. If used during the flowering stage CFL's should be used a "supplemental" lighting, with an HID being the primary light source. You can flower using CFL's solely. But the resulting harvest is generally poor.
:joint:I have no idea...How big is 10 meters???I suck at math.
:joint:You could vegetate a plant, in theory, for as long as you provide a vegetative photoperiod, usually 18/6 or 24/0.
:joint:Hope this helps you out.

good reply general! you are right about the hermie thing and yes if they are seeds from a hermie they are 100% female! The only problem is, if you get hermie bagseed plant, your future plants might become hermie. Thus why you should buy feminised seeds from a seed bank, because the genetics are so good from the breeders that you will always get a good female!

cheers about that but does anyone know what would happen if i had cfls all around the plant
Keeping cfls all round the plant causes bushier growth just make sure the wattage ratio is similar all round and keep the lights a maximum of 2 inches away from the plants. You can use cfl for flowering also I only use a single 250 watt envirolight and get 6 oz dry yield from 6 plants.

I have read a lot of people say that CFL's dont give good results. Thats not true. CFL's are gradually approaching the effectiveness of the HPS lights. That doesn't really apply to your average house-hold CFL lightbulbs, as these are of extremely low wattage, but you can now buy proper CFL grow lights. The wattages range from 125 watt upto about 300 watt. I use three 125 watt lights over 2 plants and i get great results. The main advantage is actually the lower heat produced, along with the perfect spectrum for flowering. CFL growlights are available in 2700k and are 100% PAR which is getting more important as the cost of electricity rises, you should remember that HPS lights are only about 35% efficient meaning you are wasting a lot of power creating heat and undesirable light spectrums. So in my opion you should invest in a couple of the 125 watters as you will get about 25,000 - 30,000 lumens, in the perfect growing spectrum whilst creating a lot less heat then you would with an HID. Plus they are also pretty cheap, i only paid £15 ($30) for each of mine, and the bud is GREAT!
