Hey everyone, I was wondering if you guys have a specific seed scorer or cracker you recommend for germing seeds? Ive heard that it helps with germing old beans as well as stubborn new ones as well. Thanks for the input.

I just was reading about this and am curious what the new techniques are.... I've always just used the old papertowel and a baggie.

I always just put them in rapid rooters in a seedling tray, on top of about 1/2” of perlite and fill the bottom tray about 1/4” with water mixed with recharge, on top of a heat mat temped to 80, and I haven’t had a seed not germinate since I started doing this, and usually they sprout within 2 days with the heat mat on, sometimes just one.

A cut up emery board placed in a small covered container. Put seeds in container, shake it all about and that's how we do the hokey pokey.

Supposed to scarify and weaken the seed surface as the seeds contact the emery board during the shaking, so it's easier for the shell to crack open for germination.

Dont know what an emery board is, but if it's like sand paper, I've heard that's a way to do it.

Piece of sand paper in a medicine bottle or container, shake it and germ as normal

An emery board is that thing your grandmother uses to sharpen her nails so she can rake grampy's back when they're all hopped up on marywanna and getting their freak on.
