Recommended starter strain?

So I've officially got the money to set everything up, ready to make purchases and whatnot, etc, etc. I've got recommendations and research as to how to grow, etc, etc. But one thing that I'm still stumped on, is which strain I should get.

I'm planning on paying with cash through 'The Attitude' (open to other suggestions), but I'm trying to find a strain that is good for newbies like me, seeing as I've never grown before. Hell, it's even been ages since I've last smoked. But anywho, I don't want something too expensive, it'll need to be an indoor strain, feminized, and not all that tall.

I've never done this before and I'm sure I'll make a few mistakes here and there along the way, so I want something that will be able to cope. Thanks in advance for any help!

i suggest getting an indica they stay shorter than there sativa sisters. have a shorter flowering time overall and most are really easy to grow. there are so many varieties to choose from now depends on what flavours type of high you like. big selection to choose from.

Although I've not been very happy personally with the auto flowering strains I've been growing it might not be a bad idea to start out with an auto. In theory they should be harder to screw up than a normal photoperiod.

Attitude seedbank is where I've bought my seeds in the past. Have a good look through their stock with an eye to your requirements. They often have comments as to how hard or easy a particular strain is to grow.

The other upside about attitude is the freebies you get with most orders. My last order I think I bought 7 seeds and got 9 free!

The point being you can always grow the freebies as a test then grow what you ordered 2nd time around once you've ironed out all the kinks in your growing room, killed plants with over watering/nutes. Burnt plants with lights, fallen victim to bug infestations etc etc.

Finally why confine yourself to one strain? It does complicate matters a little but you might find the strain you wanted to grow does not do as well as your 2nd or 3rd choices.

northern lights or a strain crossed with it , should be a nice easy productive start

Toughest strain I've ever grown was a confedential cheese from reserva privada. My first grow I did everything wrong from step one and that little girl still yielded 2 1/2 ozs with cfls

Northern Lights, White Widow, White Rhino... all easy to grow strains for noobs

As mentioned Nirvanas Northern Lights, their Papaya is also a easy grow with good yields and a slammer buzz....

Sensi Seeds Skunk #1. There isn't an easier strain to grow. It produces well. It is above average in potency, in the medium to high range and if you are purchasing feminized seeds, five of them only costs around $32.00 right now, roughly. If you go with regular seeds, if I remember right, ten regular seeds is something around $40.00, $42.00 ... somewhere around there.

You do not have to risk much money, you are purchasing a strain from one of the better breeders, it is a true classic strain, Skunk #1 won the very first Cannabis Cup competition and it has been used in about as many, if not more, crosses that have been made since than just about any other strain.

It's a very good choice for 'getting your sea legs under you' before you start to spend larger amounts of money on genetics and try growing strains that can be, and sometimes WILL be, more finicky, even WAY MORE finicky.

I grew a skunk 1 cross my first grow and it did the best of all my strains.

I've grown out Vanilla Kush twice but I would recommend Afgan Kush Ryder as an auto flowering resistant to pests easy to grow strain.

i'm sure plenty will bag on me for this but i'd recommend plain 'ol bagseed.

sure, it could go herm on you. sure, it could turn out to be a leggy sativa that's a bitch to grow. sure, it could "rob you" of the chance to "get to know your strain", but i find nothing encourages experimentation and learning like a "throwaway seed".

my first couple rounds with seedbank genetics was a little rough because i was afraid to do ANYTHING that might hurt the plant. when i started to grow bagseed i sprouted great big balls and learned quite a bit.

i'm still pissed about the plants that never got to be because i didn't know what i was doing. i wasted a lot of money on seeds that i had no ability to grow at the time.

but if you're bent on good genetics (not a bad thing at all) i'd recommend a skunk cross. i've had extremely good luck with skunk #1 and its crosses. anything indica with a short finish time is what you want. long flowering strains are the ones where you need the real skills. with indicas, once you realize you fucked up the plant, it's time to harvest anyway.
