Red Belly's GLH Spectra LED RDWC - Round 1

I actually run the coco base nutes with rhizo and cannazym. start off with low base nutes, 3-4 ml per gallon, high rhizo maybe 6ml per gallon for first week or so or after transplanting and about 6-8 ml of cannazym. I work my way up in base nutes until I hit about 10 ml per gal in bloom, but it really depends on how the strains respond, might need slightly lower doses. Then in flower I hit them with boost after first flower signs show at about 10 ml per gal. I wait until about 4 weeks out from harvest and hit them once or twice during that week with 3-5 ml of pk13/14. Then back to just boost until I start to flush about 5 days out from chop time. This method has brought me excellent results, I've been happy so far with this setup, but just looking to try different things.

Ah, you're in coco, I see. I was wondering when to hit them with the PK. I was thinking when the flowers are more or less formed and start packing in to become buds. I believe this is when they would need it most.

u should be like 6-8 inches from ur tops boss maybe closer...25inches is way to far away..IMO...But great set-up

Thanks, are you using GLH Spectras 2011 v1 in your grow?

What are your temps? I'm running GLH Spectra's 2011 v1 290's. I think your height is alright on them. When I backed mine off they picked up. Looking good so far though.

Optimum distance seems to be between 10-14 inches from my experience.. but keep an eye on the distance because my girls were putting on some height every day.

I am running the recommended height from Mike of GLH. If you missed his (quoted) post it was over in the LED Users Unite thread some time back. He also said that in his tests, plants at 24" yielded more than plants grown with lights closer. You gotta keep in mind that the 2011 v1 Spectra is NOT the same light as the 2010 or the v0 2011 Spectras, much less so some other brand of LED. These things are intense, for good or bad.

The air temps are 75-79* in the day and I drop them to 70 at night. I have complete control over this with A/C and programmable thermostat. I could run hotter given I have CO2 added, but this would be at the expense of water temps which already reach 74* for most of the lights on time. So I have to compromise here between optimal temps for plant growth with CO2 enrichment and optimal DO levels in the water. Still looking for solutions on water temps that don't involve a chiller or frozen water bottles if anybody's got them?

I'm interested to see the Spectras in action. They seem to get pretty positive reviews. Any updates?

Best.

Bad news, I was out of town for a few days and my A/C failed. The plants took some heavy damage given the temps both air and water shot up. I will not continue this journal here.

I got some plants in veg right now that are about 4 weeks away. I will be back here for Round 2. Take care and thanks to those who followed. You can find me on another forum if you are curious...
