I have my plant under cfls, all 4000k or higher. I want to get another cfl but all I can find in the higher wattage is red spectrum. How does this type of light effect the plant during the veg stage?

I put a small cfl next to the plant the other day and I noticed that it pre-flowered, ITS A GIRL!!!, but only in the direction of where that small bulb was.

U can grow with red soectrum in veg state, although, its recommended to how red in flowering...but it can b done.
Your right..

be careful using red spectrum during veg too because this can cause extreme stretching of the nodes and can even cause uneven/alternating nodes.. which can kill the density of your buds if your not careful.

It's highly recommended to go with a higher Kelvin/Spectrum temp. for veg cycles. What your trying to do, is mimic the vivid brighter phases of the early spring and even mid-Spring season sun. Your trying mimic nature, only your doing it indoors.. that's all your trying to do my friend. Keep it simple like that, and you'll have no problems.

Good luck.

peace.

Take a look at AMAZON for FEIT CFLs. I have a FEIT ESL40TN/D daylight bulb (200 watt equiv) and they also make an ESL65TN warm for Bloom (300 watt equiv).
