Reducing 8” inline fan to 6”

just picked up a 6” blockbuster reflector on Craigslist. Unfortunately I exhaust with an 8” Hyperfan but wanted to use it to exhaust my tent/light as well. My plan was to go from scrubber>fan>hood. I want to push the air instead of pulling so I’m not pulling hot air over a fan already working harder to pull from a 6” opening. Basically I’m just wondering how much effiency I’ll lose by pushing air from 8” to 6”. Thanks!

Couldn't tell you exactly how much efficiency it will lose but I use to push through 3 cool tubes with a 8" airforce two fan.
Same 8-6" reducer and back to 6-8 on the other end, worked well. There are some differences, 1, I could turn my fan speed down, 2, cool tubes create less resistance than hoods.
It will work though.

Right on thanks for the reply. I should have phrased that differently since it would be near impossible to figure out the exact efficiency lol. I guess the main thing I am worried about is how much stress it would put on my fan. I don’t see it being a huge issue blowing air through a smaller opening rather than trying to suck through it and possibly bogging down the fan, not to mention the hot air that would be passing over the motor while it’s also trying to work harder. Anybody else have input on this?

My closet vegg room has a 8 in fan pulling the same way and it has worked now since 2012
How many cfm's is your fan motor?
