Replacing 30'x15' Room With LED Lighting

Hello rollitup. I'll be gradually transitioning my room from HID to LED over the next few months.

I'd like to hear some thoughts as far as what style to replace my lights with, be it quantum boards, COB's, Chilled, etc.

I'm looking for pre-assembled fixtures or light DIY (Rapid LED Kit would be fine) that end up in the $1200-$1000 per 1000w HID replacement.

Growing in 6 4x8 trays, so two fixtures over each 4x8 tray.

Scrog style, with a full trellised canopy.

The quantum boards are on sale right now, I was thinking of buying a couple and replacing two HID's this round just to experiment.

I'd ask @RainDan or @robincnn, or Gromau5/Chilled, or Spectrum King, or all of em, to come up with a design at a slightly discounted rate considering the total cost of purchase if you did it all at once.

Since you're using 4x8 footprints I'm assuming you'd want somewhere around 500Wx2 per table. 6,000 watts at $1.50-$2.00 per watt is going to be in the $9,000 - $12,000 range in terms of investment. Let's say you're thrifty and can find something for $1.00 per watt, you're still in it for a decent amount of money.

I'd contact a few different vendors and ask them to quote you a price with a lead time. Get 3-4 quotes and pick one. It would be worth their couple hours of time to design you a setup with their product - and it's worth your time because you're getting professional advice.

I value the opinion of others on RIU very much, but there's a scalability aspect that's involved in this scenario where I think you're better served getting the professional opinion and pricing from people who do this a lot.

:peace: HI BROTHER - I recommend watercooled led light
(widely spreaded max. 2 x 500-700W / 4 x 8 tray)
- as your light will consume ~ 6000 - 8400W you will produce ~ 4500-6300W of heat power every hour.

If your grow room is close enough to your living place, you could produce enough hot water for 10-18 persons and even heat a big house(+ grow room) in winter - and so maybe you are able to set up a cost neutral system.
Powering your system with PV- or wind power, converts you to a "master of light".

LIGHT-HEAT-COGENERATION

can easiely triple the energy efficiency of a led light system.
You can "watercool" all kind of cob leds or even led boards, so prices for a watercooled set up
depend on the prices of your choosen leds and drivers.
For light systems > 1000W we offer prices ~ 1US$ - 1,- EURO / real 1 watt (meanwell drivers, quality cobs/boards incl.)

The kit comes premounted and all you have to do is to connect the blue wires to the blue - and brown wires to the brown, soldering iron to connect the drivers to the chips.

DIY - it`s very easy to copy(cutting and drilling aluminium) and then it goes < 1$ / w --- heatexchanger incl.
A heat exchanger(1500-2000L in your case) is a usefull extra inversion, that you can buy for a few 100 dollars or improvise by yourself.( water tank and a metal pipe coil)
+ you have my free advice granted - to copy this champion of energy efficieny. :eyesmoke:

DIY is easy with cobs, done it myself and saved thousands

Or you could give your money away on a overpriced pre assmebled kit from some of the names mentioned in smokebros posts.

Also gradual experiment like you said is a good idea, build as you go.
