repotting with rooting hormone

i am about to put my plants into 5 gallon pots and after lolliopping a little the could be potted a little further up the stalk. is there any benefit or harm from putting rooting hormone on the 4 inches of stalk that will be under dirt?

Dont bury the stem. Woody stems generally won't root and there is the potential for mold / mildew killing the plant if the stem isn't woody. It's best to let the plant grow it's root structure down into the pot.

Keep the stem/leaf ratio...

Are you doing this for an actual reason? The most common reason I hear is a lack of vertical growing space. If this is the case then build out a bigger space and you will never regret that.
