There's a thought I had today while reading more on McConnell's plans:
Why now? Why would he come out with statements like this that reflect so very poorly on Republicans right before an election?
Then it hit me. It hit me so clearly that I actually felt stupid for not seeing it coming much sooner.
McConnell wants to lose.
Not him personally, of course. His seat isn't in jeopardy.
He wants all the Trump yes men Republicans to lose.
He wants to lose control of the house and the Senate.
Why you ask?
It's so blindingly simple: he wants Trump gone.
McConnell has gotten everything he wanted from Trump: he got his tax cuts, he got his increased defense budget, he got his supreme court justices he wanted, he got it all.
Now, he'll make statements that inflame people and they'll vote in the Democrats.
And what's the first thing you think Democrats will do?
You got it: launch investigations and start impeachment proceedings against Trump.
And McConnell will lean back in his chair and watch the Democrats do his dirty work for him...and he will never have to lift a finger.
It's positively brilliant. I, and I think we all, seriously underestimated the old fart.
