Reservoir to pump help

Hi guys

I'm sure theres a simple solution to this but I just don't know what it is

I need to run a line from the base/bottom part of my water butt to my dripper system. The pump will be situated in the base of the resevoir and I don't think it'll have enough power to lift the water out the top then to the drippers.

However if I were to take a more direct route, ie. straight out the side/base it'll work. Obviously I'll need to drill a hole for the line to go through but how do I seal it again so theres no leaks

Is there a specific valve for the task ?

what size pump and res? i would try and stick with your piping coming out of the top/opening of the res.

Get a 1'' uniseal they are great and cost about 2 dollars. Its the rubber grommet they use on ucdwc buckets. all you do is drill a 1 3/4 hole push in the uniseal and shove a schedule 40 1'' pipe in it its that easy! I built 15 buckets together and not one drop ever. If you need pressure just pipe it to a magdrive inline pump. Small pumps have 1/2'' fpt in and 1/2 mpt out and larger pumps have 3/4 pt so you can get the uniseal in 1/4 1/2 3/4 1'' 2'' and 3'' I used to use bulkhead connectors and they work too but uniseal are easier and good to 60 psi I think. Water comes out the tap at around 40 so 60 is really good. Over kill to say the least. Good luck bro.:cool:

Keep in mind if you come out the top your water will siphon after the pump is off. Dont learn that the hard way dro. An easy fix to that is a small hole in the hose where it bends over the top of you rez this will suck in air and stop the siphoning action. Otherwise use the uniseal and keep it under the drip position and no problems. Also a bottom connection will give you gravity water pressure and your pump will last a lifetime.
