Pittsburgh, PA (The Weekly Vice) Kinman Chan, a 30-year-old San Francisco man was jailed after he allegedly caused a scene on a cross-country flight because he ate too many pot cookies.
According to the FBI, Chan, who was traveling back from a conference in the Dominican Republic, was flying from Philadelphia to San Francisco aboard a U.S Airways flight when he began waving, smiling, and making odd gestures to a flight crew member.
Shortly after takeoff, Chan went into the restroom and started to scream for no apparent reason. A crew member knocked on the door and Chan came out with his pants down. All of the compartments in the restroom were open.
When the crew member tried to get Chan to take a seat, he became aggressive and attempted to hit a female crew member.
Chan obviously underestimated the female crew member, who was able to dodge him, then grab his right arm and lock it behind his back. She then jumped into the seat behind him, restrained him with a choke hold and put him in plastic handcuffs. The flight made an emergency landing in Pittsburgh, according to investigators.
When questioned by authorities, Chan admitted to the disturbance and stated that he ate a double dose of his medical marijuana cookies while waiting for the flight, for which he had a medical card.
Chan was jailed shortly after landing and charged with interfering with the duties of a flight attendant. He was freed on an undisclosed bond amount and faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
