reusing medium!!

I usually use it just to top off pots as the soil settles after repeated waterings.... I'm not sure I'd use it strictly for another grow.... but I'm interested to hear what people say as well.... good soil is pricey!

yes for sure !... thats why i figure i flushed it before grow plants sucked all nutes out of it so now its just kind similiar to a coco. I actually already got plants ready for flowering from last grows medium, there about ft tall now!

exactly.... I mean I'm no expert.. far from it, but as long as there were no issues with pests from your previous grow I can't see why you wouldnt be able to recycle on a limited basis... I had a 5 gallon pot full of ocean forest and like I said... I've just been using it to top off my new plants which are about 5 weeks into flower.... so far so good:)

I think the way it works is the next grow you just start nutes a bit sooner and maybe a bit lower dose...

I've always re-used mine, from veg to flower, and veg to flower, just fluhing in between grows, and adding a lil new medium and additives into it each time around... I bet Ive still got soil in summa my buckets from 5 or 6 grows back...

I use Sunshine #4 mixed with a 30% coco, 20% worm castings and some lime. I reuse it all the time. Just mix it in with new soil and you're fine.

Off topic, but how do you ph for sunshine #4? I'm in soil, but been thinking about switching to coco. The whole coco ph thing really confuses me.

I've grown in soil, soiless, and coco. I like the mix I am using now with Sunshine and 30% coco. For coco I always pH'd at 5.8-6.0 and with Sunshine 6.3-6.6

I added coco to my Sunshine cause the one drawback I feel Sunshine has is that it dries out too quickly. I think they put too much perlite in it in my opinion. The lime I add is for pH stability although it probably doesn't need it. I ran a while last year without the lime and the pH was pretty stable. I just add it anyway. Since I have 30% coco in the mix I pH now to 6.3 and it works out great for me.

The one thing with straight coco you gotta watch out for is that it has a nice amount of potassium in it so you need to adjust your nutes accordingly.

I'm gonna get a rotating composter. Throw the old soil in with some other things and let it "cook".

If I'm reusing my soil its some FF ocean forest stuff its been used in 2 others grows, I had just added a bit of lime and castings and vermiculite to the soil before planting. But my best grows were outside before so I would always just till the soil afterwards but besides doing that if you don't pull the plant out roots and all can all that organic matter left over cause any problems even after you have tilled the soil in ur pots?
