Ringohaze's multi-strain grow

hello everyone, ive been a lurker here for quite some time. For the past few months I have been on here and other forums trying to get more knowledge before I start my own grow. a little history on my grow experience is as follows, i have about 5 indoor harvests under my belt so far, however the guy who was helping me and my roomates grow took a dictator like approach and since i had no previous experience with indoor growing i took a step back and learned. he/we used 5 gallon buckets for dwc with bubble stones and non organic nutes. this was all great and he knew what he was doing for sure, but there were obviously more than a few things i didnt agree with, however i didnt have much say in the matter, other than using my house at the time, it was his equipment, clones, and he was more of an expert than me.

enough about that, now fast forward a few years and here we are. I am using two 90w ufo led lights and have 10 seeds i just started the other day in peat pots with half soil i mixed up and half worm castings with a very small amount of lime to counteract the supposed acidity of peat pots. out of 10 seeds all 10 sprouted and are looking ok now, but they seem smaller than seedlings i have seen in the past. anyway i am obviously going the organic way, and using soil. although my experience with hydro in the past and know how easy it is, i wanted to go dirt for multiple reasons, simplicity, more forgiving, and from what i hear better taste.

here are the strains i have: 2 strawberry cough, 2 blueberry, 1 g13 x haze, 1 headband, 1 sweet tooth, 1 pineapple express, 1 cheese, and 1 sour candy (freebie dont know much about). any info about these strains, how they grow, traits, how long does flowering usually take, etc., any of this info will be welcomed in this thread. I have read a lot on a few of these strains and not a lot on others and just really liked the way they tasted/high.

another thing i want to mention is i am obsessed with good tasting cannabis if you couldnt tell i really like fruity tasting buds especially berry, also like spicy and really all kinds of exotic like flavors. I really prefer sativas but because of not wanting to wait up to 12-16 weeks to flower, i had to decide on some good hybrids for now. but i will grow some badass sativas eventually. so any organic method of making my product taste even better im open to it

anyway i am including some pics i took a few hours ago, i have a very simple setup right now in a guest bedroom, but will be moving this up into the attic when the temperatures kinda stable off and get cooler, so i can control the temperature better. right now it is cold as shit at night but still very warm in the day. also when i move everything up into attic i will be considering getting a 600w hps or 1000w hps for flowering room. right now i just have 2 90w ufo, and was thinking about going all led, and getting a 357 mag for flowering...oh and i forgot to mention i just bought a 2 foot, 4 light t5, to use together with the ufo's somehow...any input on any of these topics will be much appreciated and i will be back everyday to check up and answer any questions.

a little about my setup right now, other than the lights already mentioned, i have a three rack adjustable metal stand, surrounded by pandafilm (white on inside of course), a fan blowing on them, and thats about it...trying to keep it simple, but not afraid to buy things i need so if you have any ideas of something im missing let me know...thanks and looking forward to everyones responses.

oh and i know the plants are already stretching pretty high, i plan on filling up some more soil to cut back on stem length, i have since moved the lights closer

I wish you would keep a couple plants under the 2 90W UFO for the full growth just to see if you can get some buds out of them! looking forward to see the attic :leaf:

EDIT I hope you dont wait 2 years before you post again!

hey endur, i was planning on updating every week with pictures, but since someone is finally interested i will go ahead and post some pics tonight..i just lookd at em and they are lookin good...anyway about the flowering w/ the ufos im gonna go ahead and do it, i am however considering having a 400 or 600w hps free hanging in the middle of 4 plants w/ a ufo on each in flowerng..i havent seen anyone with this design but with the combination of led and hid lights and just turning the plants every few days so each side hits the free hanging light in the middle...i dont know if i am going to be able to handle the electric stuff because i think there is only 1 or 2 of the wall power outlets in my attic...anyway just stuff to consider about the flowering room, still got plenty of time to make all those decisions, because im planning on vegging most of these for at least a month and maybe start two in flowering, and have a perpetual type system.. on that note i just got my t5 light in today it is a 24" w/ 2 24w 6500k (white bulb), and 2 24w 2700k (tan bulb).. it looks really cool, but dont wanna mess with changing it up right now, but i have heard that the t5s are great for starting out and cloning and early vegging. i am planning on buying at least 4 more ufo's so i can have 4 in my flowering room, 2 in veg room, and the t5 for the babies. i really am going all organic and will post up my soil mix and all the ingredients and what kinds of kelp and guano and stuff i am using.

i am a little concerned for the leaf curling downward on the strawberry cough 2 (picture 2.9, SC 2), but very concerned about the sweet tooth (2.10-2.14, ST), the curling of the leafs downward on them has even made the new growth stressed out and turning purple..i am not one of those people who obsesses over purple buds, sure they look pretty but unless its very dominant in the genetics already then its just stressed plants, at least in my limited experience. so this has me watching the sweet tooth very close..hopefully she pulls through, hell they all look really healthy so if this is the only thing im worried about right now then that makes me feel good.

anyway thanks for chiming in endur i will definitely be updating pics at least every week and of course replying as frequent as possible. thanks.

not a prob! I subscribed to a few grow journals where as the growers are just starting... I am fairly new to growing but I feel like I got decent knowledge already, but there is nothing like experience!!

Anyway, I had one plant that was stressed from the beginning for some reasons... but, then I chopped a few fan leaves (I thought it was a good idea but apparently wasnt!!) long story short, it had a slow start but it looks like it will explode now!!

I am also going all organic... looking forward to see your soil mix, I also changed a few things from subcool's mix. Next time around, I will make my soil much weaker so that I can use more compost teas through the growth process. I also have 2 UFO's, but I dont really have a plant to waste on an experiment (try to keep it under 5 plants) nor the room. I will just use them as boosters but that is why I asked you if you would try to flower a plant strictly with the UFOs just to see if they are useless! haha

Cheers

i just wanted to update with pics i took yesterday....so this is week 3 of pictures and 7/10 are looking really good, and started lst on 6 of those, blueberry 1 and 2, strawberry cough 1 and 2, cheese, and headband kush. the sour candy is the 7th plant looking good but i decided to keep it normal for now, and the sweet tooth is starting to look better, but the pinapple express is slowly getting worse, and the g13 x haze is looking good some days and bad others. because i transferred soil from peat pots to the plastic containers i think that might be what is holding those 3 up because i specifically remember 3 or 4 the soil just completely breaking apart once it came out of peat pot, and i was like damn that sucks for the roots, so its probably those gals, the should be fine in a few days. just gonna keep watching.

after i updated last week i went to my local hydro store to get some supplies and some soil, (i already have a super soil thats been cooking for about 2 months now). anyway i ended up spending $200 but on much needed stuff. also my new t5 light came in that day as well. so i moved my grow into the laundry room for now, until i move it all in the attic (still havnt started getting the attic fixed up, but i did buy a few pyranthum bug bombs at the hydro store to use up there).

i took some pics of the supplies i have and everything i have used thus far (some of the supplies i havnt even used of course), not pictured is the super soil already cooking, the mychorzial fungi "root zone enhancer", and 2 bags of volcanic rock dust mixed in with the super soil. alot of these bags are from my local organic store, which is friggin awesome by the way, they have everything there and sell it in either 4, 10, 20 lb bags. all in all i have spent probably $250-300 on all soil, soil additives, and fertilzers. im not really worried about costs that much right now because i know start up costs are expensive for anything and i truly want to get this right and am trying to read as much as possible to figure out what exactly i need and what would be best for my setup. things i still need to get are: electrolyzed fish and/or fish emulsion, 2 more ufo lights so i can have 4 ufos total, and thinking about getting co2 tank and distributer, and of course ventilation stuff for attic, other than that i should be good to grow for a few harvests before i need to start buying supplies again.

i dont really have a planned schedule right now just kinda going with the flow, i might put two of the better looking gals in flowering in the next few weeks but we will see, if they look real nice i will take a few clones.

cloning is something i am very good at and after messing around with a couple garden herbs i have more rosemary, basil, and mint clones than i know what to do with. so im looking forward to experimenting again with cloning cannabis, it has been several years.

some more big changes have been taking place, for one thing i knew i would have to eventually, but i finally got everything upstairs in the attic, good timing too because we had company this weekend and they never even knew a thing. so back to the attic, we are having our second frost this year tonight and i just went up there to take these pictures and its cold, but anticipating tonight after i saw the news i went to the store and got a space heater to keep em warm. it is doing great, only $25 and i can set the temperature to 65,70,75,80,85 or low/high, on low it keeps it around 70 and when i set it at 65 it gets to about 80-85, so i figured it would be better to keep it at 80-85 and just turn it off in the day, unless its really cold that day. please someone correct me if i am wrong on that. ok so i started working on the flowering room a little today, just hung a couple panels of panda film up to try to partition/enclose a space off, and its going to be about 3-4 feet long, 2 1/2-3' feet wide, and about 6' tall..should be plenty for 4-8 plants i think...starting to think about doing like 400 or 600 watt hps combined with the ufo's, where the hps will be at the top of course and the ufo's maybe tilted toward the plants at an angle...i dunno still got to work out the details on that..

well the plants are all doing great now, and even the g13 haze that was just barely putting along is really picking up some speed now, as with the pineapple express and sweet tooth, and thank god too because those are some that i have been really wanting to grow...my strawberry cough is doing phenominal and looks crazy and has all kinds of side branches shooting out and up, it is really cool looking, and this one shoot has to have gotten 2 or 3 inches in the past few days and now is looking like a great clone to take. im probly going to do that in the next few days and then let it heal a little then take that one and maybe one or two more into flowering in the next two weeks. anyway im getting really excited.

in other pot related news after hitting my friends volcano the other day, which was the first time since i was in cali about 2 years ago, and i just fell in love with it, anyway needless to say when i got home i was surfing ebay within minutes trying to find a good deal...after about a week of searching and watching i followed a decent priced digital volcano with some awesome accessories like the vapordome and some other random things...well i won the auction for about $420 with shipping, no shit!! oh yeah and i gave myself another birthday present the other day and made another order for seeds here is my list:

# seeds / seed company / strain / fem-auto-reg

2 - soma seeds / nyc diesel / fem
2 - reserva privada / og kush / fem
2 - green house seeds / jack herer / fem
2 - dutch passion / durban poison / fem
1 - green house seeds / white widow / fem
1 - th seeds / S.A.G.E / fem
1 - sensi sees / northern lights #5 x haze / fem
5 - nirvana / super skunk / fem
6 - bc bud depot / the purps / fem

freebies:

i got the cannabis cup promo, very nice

1 - barneys farm / pineapple chunk / fem
1 - green house seeds / super lemon haze / fem
2 - dna genetics / LA confidential / reg

and i cant tell which of the other ones im getting because i usually place my order first and then pay by phone, but it took me like 2 weeks to pay this time so it got split over two different months, so i guess i will be getting whatever promo they are doing this month besides the cannabis cup promo, which i almost missed but luckily the lady at attitude (who is so cool and nice) hooked me up with them. i figure after this order i will be good for a while...at least until outdoor season starts rolling around then the hills are going to come alive, like the muthafuckin sound of music bitch!!!

note: on the pictures, the first 15 or so, the ones where the plants are still on laundry machine, are taken about a week ago on the 10th, the pics i just took tonight are the ones where it looks like the plants are in the attic, so thats why the plants look a little different if you can notice.

"me and my roomates grow took a dictator like approach and since i had no previous experience with indoor growing i took a step back and learned"

Smart man., Most of the morons i try to help think they got it after one go and a book or dvd i told them to read not realizing how many of those damn dvd's i watched or threads i read before i felt good handing them that one. They always want to do it "their way"

Looking good btw!

even though my rzrbcks didnt come through with the win over lswho, im going to update my thread...ive been outta town since wed. but i am getting back tmrw and checkin on my babies...these pics im updating with were taken tuesday night, i only got 3 plants pictured, but its because those are the first 3 i decided to flower..although im still gonna veg them seperately for another 1 or 2 weeks i guess...i dunno just gonna wait a little more..

also i recently decided to purchase a 400w ceramic metal halide light, im gonna use this in tandem with the 2 90w ufos i have (that is what the three plants are under right now. i have been reading a lot about the ceramic metal halides lately, and i think a combination of the two different light sources will be great, and also the reason i decided on cmh, is because it seems to me that the balanced spectrum and the added bonus of the low amounts of uvb are great and what im looking for, and i have seen some very frosty and im told very tasty and very good quality buds, and that is exactly what im after, i know the hps systems give the bud more weight and density and thats great and all and might utilize both cmh and hps one day but right now i think im gonna try these cmh and see how i like them..honestly some of the best bud i have smoked wasnt very dense, and im not really growing to sell just for my head, so i dont think it will bother me..anyway i will probably be purchasing that light this week, and get it next i imagine...

back to my plants, i transplanted the strawberry cough 1, headband, and cheese all into 3 gallon smartpots, and they are under the 2 90w ufos for 24/0...however i will be slowly cutting back the light cycle these next two weeks or maybe longer i dunno yet...but i do know that when i get back im going to slowly get down to 18/6, and then after about a week or so here im going to slowly knock it back to 12/12...im sure other people have done this before to make it more like the sun instead of one day 24 hours and then the next only 12, it seems like if anything that would make a plant go into shock to me, i know im not a botanist by any means but it just seems to me that it just seems like that might be why it takes so long for some plants to start to show pistils...i maybe WAY off on this thought, but thats why im doing this journal to test some of these ideas and to get feedback from some more advanced growers...

things are going well for you! when do you plan on switching to flower? Did you use subcool's recipe or you created your own?

about the supersoil, i think its very similar to subcool and lumperdawgz recipes', although mine was more of an approximation on the ratios rather than exactly the right amount...it looks like everything is working out so i guess it will work out....after looking at your thread though and some other peoples, it made me realize how much having a hps or mh really makes them grow faster opposed to a t5 or led, i always thought that it didnt really matter how much light they needed when they were so young....but comparing what your plants and others look like compared to the size of mine after a month, its obvious that you have the advantage....however im still very pleased with my progress this far...

i just got back into town and checked on my babies, my blueberry plant (#2), was completely limped over and looked pretty bad, but for some reason the side shoots were still looking perky as hell, so i watered everything (havnt been watered since wed.), and am just gonna leave it alone and if it bounces back awesome but if it keeps on this way im just gonna cut those good shoots off and clone em...and the ones under the ufos are looking badass, i sprayed em down real good with that pro-tekt, silica spray right before i left town. im really happy with how everything is looking this week...probably will start cutting back the lights from 24/0 2 hours every two nights, or somehting like that, still trying to figure out if the gradual change of lights is good, bad, or pointless...
