Rockwool Clay pellet mix

Hi.
I was wondering if anyone has had good success with using a rockwool/clay pellet combination when growing in a flood and drain system.
I have a bag of loose rockwool and some clay pellets. When using net pots, should I mix them together, or layer them? What percentages of each?

I would only use the rockwool if you are going to start new seedlings in your system. Otherwise clay pellets would be fine. If you are going to start from seedlings, make a square of the rockwool, compress it so it stays together. Poke a hole in the top for your seedling. Then in your net pot add some pellets, put in the rockwool cube and then finish filling with pellets, have a light layer of pellets on top of the cube.
