(Rookie question) Can I clip these big leaves.

Im 2 1/2 weeks into veg and these two plants are very bushy. Can I trim the bigger leaves at this stage to allow light to hit the others bud sites. If so, should i wait on trim until i water them again or will they be okay if I don’t give them water after trimming. There are so many conflicting answers online.
