room to hot please help!!

so first off this is my first grow room its in my closet which has no vents what so ever. its reaching 90 with the door cracked 5 inches. i have a 600 watt in there with two fans one on the plants and the other pushing air out the crack. im in an apartment so i was wondering what else i can do. i cant cut a hole in the door for an exhaust but maybe the ceiling but it would be better if i wouldnt do that. any suggestions guys? oh and my leaves are starting to wether an help with that to im guessing its bc of the heat

your problems do sound heat related. you will not be able to run a 600 in a closet without better ventilation and given you are in an apartment that is going to be tough. i could suggest a lot of impractical solutions but my bet is that you;re going to have to get a lower wattage light system.

yea i have same problem and i only got 4x18w cfl's in there im just leaving the door open

I agree, leave the door open, it's the best bet, you don't want to be cutting holes into apartment property.

I never thought growing in an apartment is logical, unless you know the landlord and he's cool with it.

I worked in a downtown apartment complex, with the help of the landlord/owner/friend, he's my age. We had 6 units on the top three floors with 4 x 600w. We raged the hole complex pretty much. Good times. :bigjoint:

three reasons not to do what you;re trying to do. the fourth is that your place is going to smell even with that closet partially closed. you are likely to get caught.

I agree with you, it was definately cool to know someone who owned an apartment complex, and wanted to grow.

It was in the ghetto, five story old apartment building, the bottom two floors were still occupied by my friend/owner of the building, and a couple of his other friends.

It worked out because he owned the building and everyone who lived there, including me, was in on the operation.

They all went on to grow in an actual warehouse, and I split ways, it was getting too risky imo, that type of buisness is really what the dea wants to stop. Assholes.

So now i'm left in a house with 6 lights, and no connections. Sucks for me.

But at least i won't go down in a warehouse op.

so what you are saying is get rid of it all? i live in a town house in an end unit. my landlord will only come in to my place if i call them to so im not really worried about them coming in. i could put it in the basement but that seems more risky to me bc if they ever need to get in thats the place they would be going. for the smell aspect i have two air purifers and some glade plugins all around the place.

Your landlord only needs to give you 24hrs notice if he wants to get in your place.

I personally wouldn't reccomend growing in ANY rental property unless your certain the landlord is cool with it. And that still isn't good enough, he could nick your stash, then what.

My first op was in a rental house, and I was always giving my landlord the run around. It was a bitch. I had 4 600s and took up the whole second floor, i locked it off from the staircase and said I had someone subletting the upstairs, it worked, but jesus, it was a bitch.

ya i do see where your coming from ill end up ditching it if the landlord says they are coming in but until then i think im just going to open the door and have a fan blow in thanks for the help guys i do appreciate your help.

It should help, if you have some dough get an activated carbon filter, it will put your other air filters to shame, and you won't need those plugins.

Without a way to get serous ventilation in and out of there you are going to have to lower your watts. Go down to at least a 400W light. But you should think about down sizing much more. You could get a small HPS (like 70Ws) and a few CFLs. Also the smaller the space you are growing in the faster the heat will build up. Use as much space in the closet as you can. The fact is there isn’t much you can do (short of some demo.). You are probably going to have to live with heat that is higher than ideal. You will be able to grow good pot in high heat. Some strains will do better in high heat than others. Also watch out for male flowers.

im runnin the same as you are funky. cept im runnin a 400w. all i do is blast a small ac unit and use a box fan to blow toward the closet. it keeps it at about 80 which is still a little warm, but it works.

man im having the same problem... my temp range goes from like 75ish with lights off to anywhere mid 80s-mid90s with the lights on... the worst part is im using a t5 fixture! Given the plants are pretty much touching the light, pulling a temp that high is definetly a problem.. ive tried everything I can running fans in, out, on the plants, etc. etc. nothing works...

the thing is... i havent noticed stunted grwoth or heat stress lol... these damn weeds are resilient growing in 90 degree weather, go figure.

Nothing grows above 90 degrees. Im using cfl's in a box and I'm having heat troubles. It sucks I have to leave the cab door open to keep the temps around 80. Soon i'm gonna have to worry about the cold. My cab is onmy 3 season porch. but hopefully I get some auto flowering plants by then lights on 24/7 No need to worrie about the heat. Just the cold.

I had ur ame exact problem. I had a seuro hood with fans on ti and everything and i couldnt sleep with the dam light on. SO I got A TENT. It works perfectly. While i was waiting for the tent to come I hung the light form a shower rod in the bathroom and made sire light coiuldnt get out. It was still hotter than a tent but cooler than a closet. The tent rocks. I paid 95 on ebay for 4x4x6.5. Lol i bet u did not think that light was thawt hot. Hell i thot my 400 watt was hot. No worries now. Apartment too, lot of peeps do. Get an emergency plan:joint:

im growing in an apt too though i need no worries the land lord smokes prob is i only have a 400watt and my room easily hits 90 with the doors open and fans going i dont have a working A/C i bought one but it doesnt cool jack shit i think i need to redo the freon..... any help on that i leave everything open at night when its cool the room goes down to about 80 somtimes but as soon as its like 11am it starts going up again.... humidity is perfect though.
