Root pruning in smart pots?

I recently repotted from 3g buckets into 7g smart pots, about 10 days ago. I am starting to see the roots coming through the bottom and sides. Am I supposed to prune these or just let them roll? Thanks.

Really!? I personally have never expierenced roots growing through smart pots and have only seen it in pictures in hydro grows. Would love to see a pic.
Guy at my hydro store says he just puts a cloth bag inside another cloth bag.
I vegged a plant for an entire year almost in a 5 gal smart pot and roots never grew through.

If the sides are dry the roots will air prune themselves. As always, it is better to have something that lifts your pot off the ground a bit so air can get in there to do its work.

Now I feel like I'm bragging here. :P

And yeah, they sit on a little X shaped thing I made out of pvc so they arent sitting directly on the floor.

That's probably exactly what it is. As the other guy I had seen with it was using a flood drain table. Probably was keeping the bags constantly wet. Makes sense now.
