Root rot? Please help

Hey guys I think my system has fallen victim to root rot.

I started with six plants. Three were young 2 week old sprouts and the other three were older with several tiers of leaves.

It started with the young plants drooping over and never recovering. The plants looked healthy other than drooping over. But they would soon dry up and die.

At first I thought it could be over watering but removing the young plants from the flood tray to only recieve one watering a day did not work.

Now the same symptoms are showing up on one of my older plants. I've been looking online at root rot threads but no one has posted a picture of how root rot looks like.

I use Fox farm 3 part nutrient solution, PH is 5.8 water temps are in the 70's.

Here are some pics please help

If it is root rot I've read to use H2O2 but how exactly do I do that? A detailed guide would be helpful.

yes sir that is root rot. The H202 method, which works great btw, is by adding up to 5mL per gallon (start at 1mL though). I actually do this every 5 days for preventative measures. It does lower pH, but not by much. The results are almost immediate once the roots have been treated. Your water temp should also be kept at 58F to prevent the growth of fungus, parasites, bacterias etc. The idea of warm days should mean warm roots are exaggerated and without merit.

Thanks guys for the info. I did a H2O2 bath last night and changed the resivior. I also picked up some AquaShield from my local hydroponics store. The guy that worked there suggested that it would work as well. Has anyone has any experience using Aqua Shield?

Hey my system has succumbed to root rot as well. I was wondering about Aqua-shield as well. It's by Botanicare right?

They took Hydroguard off the market cause of labeling issues. I THINK Aqua-shield is the same thing but w/ different labeling. Hydroguard was good for preventing root rot before it happened.

I have Hygrozyme and sm-90 to try and stop my root rot. It's only been a couple days since adding both and my system is way out of wack right now so I may start over.

Not to discourage you, it has just gone on too long in my system and my plants have been suffering for a long time. I would get some SM-90 and/or Hygrozyme they are both really good products. Highly rated products, but I only have a couple days experience w/ them.

Any1 know about Aquashield?
