Root Snot :)

..anyway, I finally bother to grab a ph test kit (just a test-tube one), and some PH Up and Down.

So last night, I test the water in the bubble-cloner, and finding alkaline, I adjust it to around 6.5.

This morning, I go out have a look at the cloner, and the roots have this filth growing on em already.. We'll call this substance "Root snot" cos that's what it looks like.

How do I get ridda the snot? whist maintaining the 6.x PH?

Short answer, keep organic additives out of the res, and put beneficial microbes in. Some aquashield will probably do the trick. Alternatively you could try sterilization, but that doesn't seem to work very well.

BTW. When I used the bubble cloner I ran plain ol water and h2o2 phd at 5.2 till decent roots and then transferred to the veg tent.

Use some h2o2. But I agree with the other answers listed above. One thing that has been missed or overlooked. Your ph. It should be 5.6 not 6.5.

Yeah. Kind of missed the ph thing. 6.5 is waay to high for young plants.

Physian is good but once you have the slime, many have found the only way to knock it back is beneficials

While i do agree there are two different raods to take when facing this problem, I'm with the sterilization route!

Use H2O2, high doses! I personally use H2O2, 3ml per gallon of 29% in every drop of water that goes into my garden start to finish. I've had root snot aka slime a couple times in early stages before the leaf canopy shades my bucket tops from direct light, i triple or more my H2O2 and it kills the slime... Long story short, 15-20ml of 29% H2O2 per gallon should kill your snots. It won't disappear from the roots over night or anything but it will be killed and stop growing, it will break down over the next few weeks.
