Hello all,
I have an areoflo 30 with a 957gph pump. I use general hydro nutrients the PPM is 1260 and PH is 6.1 I have the pump set on 15 mins on and 15 mins off because my resivoir water kept heating up and I could not figure out why. I had 4 airstones in my resv. and one of the pumps was right by a ballast so I think the air stone was pumping in warm air and heating up the water so I removed all 4 airstones because someone here said you dont even need them with aero systems and that took care of the water heating up. I dont have a thermoniter but I am certified to test commerical water applications. So I am pretty close just feeling water with the temp, I would say the hottest my resv got was around 94 degrees but it was only for 1-3 hours before I caught it and threw some ice in it to get it cooled down. *I just changed the water and such so I didnt want to mess with it anymore then needed.
The strains are - cheese, haze, sour diesel and g-13 all from clones and all were vegged for 10-14 days under 54 watt vho t5's on a 18/6 scedule in a aero system I built consisting of 17 spray heads and a 480gph pump in a 57 gallon tub with 15 gallons of water and 4 airstones. This water never heated up.I put them in it for the 10-14 days and they grew beautifully. By the time I moved them they have long healthy roots. the ppm was 460 then i bumped it up to 960 getting them rdy for the move.
So I cut the clones on 12/12 forget when they went to veg but then went into the flowering area on 1/2 and pistils came at 1/18. The foliage looks great, no sign of stress, defiencies or any other problems.

So I moved them and got the PPM right. Using Nova micro, grow and bloom i got the ppm to 1260 a couple days after the move and changed the lights to 400watt hps on 12/12
They were in the aeroflo for about a week and I started noticing algea and such so I covered the hydroton with black plastic. The roots looked a bit brown but ok.

In the third pic u can see they are starting to bud and everything looks good to me but I checked the roots in one and found this -

Now the roots are well intact, I gave then a decent lil stress test and they are holding tight and not slimey at all. All temps/ph/ppm are all good so I am thinking this is a result of the nutrients discoloring the roots or possibly when the resvoir heated up for an hour or two. The plant itself looks great and is growing strong though so in my mine that means leave it the hell alone?????
Also I added another row and while the plants are growing and look good the roots dont seem to be growing??? Anu suggestions?
