Hi lads/ladies.
I'm currently in a grow at the moment and still have another 8 weeks of flower in the girl so I've decided to start my first auto flower grow and have just popped my first seed in and that was a fem northern lights auto. I haven't had any experience with this type and for a autoflower don't know what to expect and will learn on the way. I will post up pics as she grows but has anyone here done this plant before and if so how was she and is there any tips for this strain and also how does she finish smoke n taste. Thanks all :)

I am growing out Sensi Seeds NL and they are pretty big plants to be autos actually, I am just in week 2-3 of flowering so they still have a lot of time left to go, but so far it looks like there will be a good little bit on her.

Here are some of the most recent pics of one of the NL's, I have two others as well. Two are pretty similar, but the third one is pretty short but insanely wide, probably takes up a 3'x3' square area of the room, very indica dom, did have a cal-mag problem with the smallest one, but have since flushed and it seems to be improving....

^ This is the last one that is really short and bushy, and had the cal-mag problem, not real sure why. Seems to be doing better after the flush though, extremely wide and bushy girl!

They definitely are just as big as some of the photos I've grown, super tight internodes will make for some arm sized buds I hope

I have heard a lot of good things about the Royal Queen NL's, all the pics I have seen of them are pretty large. I'm sure they will be great girls, most NL's I have seen/heard of have a very slight odor while flowering which is always a good thing, my Skunk #1's are absolutely killin' me on that front, they are by far the stinkiest thing I have ever smelt.

I'm not sure about that, could you post a little bit better picture? It could be roots, auto roots kind of grow crazy. I would put a little soil on top of it but just don't cover up any leaves.

Is that new soil? Looking a little closer, it looks like grass or something, if it is used soil it could be something else popping up.

i don't think it is roots bigbloom(tho I could be wrong ). I have purchased many of cheaper or "lesser quality" potting mix back in the day and after planting in them after the first or second waterings I'd get sprouting up similar to what you have pictured. I've just picked em out and everybody lives happily ever after :)

As this is my first auto grow should i expect anything much of her at around 9 days since poking her head thru the soil?. Do autos grow slower in the first few weeks? This is how she stands currently at 1.25 inches. Sorry cant rotate pics

Sorry but you ruined it by starting it on a soda bottle, it's ok i made the same mistake my first auto.
sorry mate but why do you think it's that. I knew someone that always started them in soda bottles or party cups then after 2 weeks they'd cut the bottle or cup straight down one side pulling all that soil out and put it into 18-25ltr pots where they would stay until harvest. Transplant now maybe into my new 25 ltr pot 50% perlite 50% organic soil mix?

I germinate mine in small pots in my propagator, then plant them in 15l pots as soon as they're up - never had even a slight problem. 50% perlite might be too much methinks - normally it's around 30%, 35% base soil and 35% compost (as well as other necessary ingredients). Plus I doubt you'd need more than 18l pots man, save some cash on soil and whatnot!

Cheers guys. I will post newer pics later on but I think the reason she was taking a while to get going was lack of ferts in this new soil I'm trying so added a week dosage of nutes into her and I can see the difference already 2 days later. I will add more soil in pot to dilute the 50/50 ratio but is there a rule of thumb or something that says when they'll be strong enuf to handle a first and final transplant?. Cheers

Yeah your right - generally you don't transplant auto's, they're roots aren't as strong and if damaged won't have the requisite time necessary to heal themselves. But I transplant under 2 conditions: enough potting mix in the small pot to ensure roots don't poke out and the soil I'm transferring it too isn't too 'hot' for a seedling.
Be careful and don't do unnecessary things. I just find must of the complaints about auto's is from people expecting the world and being too hasty. I pull just under 3oz per auto every 2 weeks, with no LST, no topping or even a support stick lol (which I will implement as they get a bit heavy!).

Enjoy them - they're awesome!
