Rumor? White ash being flushed completely?

So if read on a couple spots here and there that Properly flush cannabis will burn completely white. Now I have found that most of my home grown smoke burn fully white when finished but a lot of the commercial bud I get does not. When I say commercial I mean The common seedless high grade from the guy up the street. Point is, Id like to see how everyone here felt about it. I tend to flush even though some people find it pointless. This is not a discussion about weather or not flushing is right or wrong, this is about the ash color. Now, Any and all opinions are welcomed. I wanna hear what everyone has to say. Also pics are more than welcome

Im not sure but isnt black ashes an indication of the grower using extremely high EC values, not flushing, sloppy drying and no cure?

I read about this a couple years back in a High Times article. Kept it in my memory banks well when obtaining smoke. I believe the article was by Danko. This is paraphrasing, but it said that clean bud will leave behind a white ash in your smoking device. However, if your bud isn't burning so clean, it's because of fertilizer salt build up, and could also be from unseen rot starting. Unclean bud will cause sore throats, bad coughing, and will not be a pleasant experience. Through his article he was promoting flushing, but it's still been in the back of my mind. And usually before I buy smoke, people will share a bowl with me, and I always keep an eye on it near the end so I can determine if I want any or not.

This has been floating around WAY longer than that HT article, and no one provided proof back then either.

I heard that some people just flush after theyve put all the energy they want to into the leaves. Now they are trying to get those colors out so they flush the soil of everything it has so the plant is forced to draw its energy from its fan leaves creating its color change. Weather or not this will effect taste or potency, Im not sure. Just something to think about

white ash good taste ,smell after a good jar cure, flushing last 2 weeks deprives plants of reaching their full potential .plant science 101

Almost anything will leave white ash if burned hot enough.
this is the answer imho.. shit that's black, hold your lighter to it and it will turn white eventually.. black ash just means it wasn't smoked long enough, hot enough for it to turn white is all..
flushing has no effect on taste, ash color, taste, etc.. if it did, everyone would simply flush instead of people saying flushing is better, no it's not, etc, etc.. if it really made a difference, everyone would be all over it..

Most bud that is dry/cured at least enough to be smokable, once hit to being cached should basically be powder white ash.

Now flushing can sometimes help smooth out the taste, but this is generally if your running like rockwool flood tables with a very high E.C. salt based nute, and feeding alot all the way through to harvest. Like some cash croppers whom run gh 3 part in rock wool flood trays... if you run like 2-3x feed on a recirc. system and never use just plain phed water you can get salt build up which can make for a nasty harsh smoke.... you will see the bud crackle like a sparkler... but it will still end up white ash at the end....

So yeah just a rumor.... just like weed with more hairs isn't as strong.... or weed with more hairs is stronger..... or bagseed i.e. seeds from shwag cant grow into nice plants.... Just a rumor.

Bump....

Can anyone here lend some useful info to this topic ?

I love smoking weed that is smooth, and basically burns to a white ash/powder.....I hate it when you are scraping bad tasting chunky stuff out of your bowl...

Can anyone say with certainty how you achieve smooth weed like this ?

thanks, SC

I wonder what that white stuff is?
Black is carbon from burning anaerobically. (The white stuff is the nutes, if flushing removed........)

Normally I would put a huge copy paste from the hundreds of previous conversation.. where does this crap come from

If you grow, or have grown more than 2 or 3 plants then you know the answer to this question.....
Racerboy nails it:

Just so you know....
If you are to this point in your growing experience, then....
If you understand a plant....
And you grow it to it's Max potential ...
You have taken your time, you have a green beautiful plant all the way through the grow...
It pops out beautiful colas.... you let buds finish...
You dry properly.....
You cure it....
You will not need to ask anything about flushing....
