so everything in the 1400 ma circle is all 1400ma related info, its basically just variances in the driver. and 2160 is the max on the strip, but samsung didn't seem to think it was good idea, at least not without an actual heatsink and a fan.

So if that's true, and I have both and will check, then the M series doesn't need a sink at test current like the EB. That would be sweet.
I know the EB gains a max of 35F over ambient at test...ill see about the M series.

that makes me think that 1.4 doesn't need a heat sink. I would run them just like the EB strips. The wattage is half on these over the EB.
So there is 480 watt meanwell driver out. or its comming out. You could run like 18 of these on it. If you put that over a 4x4 it would be pretty sweet.

EDIT:
So I tried an EB strip and an M series C strip both at "test" wattage, and both just taped to a pine 2x2.
I voted my Walmart meat thermometer off the island...because it lies! And I found my IR thermometer and my min/max Fluke. Turns out the back of both strips is about 60ish C! A lot hotter than my meat thermometer said, and very close to brahbbyb's readings. And both had a temp droop with no heat sink of about 2%. So they do run hotter than I thought, but both can be run without a heat sink.

Just running them on aluminum sheet would do a great job at test, maybe small efficacy boost.

If you like cookie sheets, they make a 26x18" commercial one that could take the 560mm strips. The ones I am trying on aluminum sheet voltage droop only .5%!
I figure if I can keep max temp below 50c then all is good. Been testing them in the garage before I'll trust them in house.
