scrog questions

i am thinking about doing a screen my next grow. i just got a couple packs of fem seeds and figure now is as good a time as any. was wondering what the consensus is on topping or not? is so, should i top when the plant reaches the screen lvl?

also how full do you let the screen get before flowering?

i might be a tit stoned andd drunk but this is my new thought. I have a veg chamber that is about 2.5 x1.5 with a 2ft t5 hood. flower is 4x2 with 400watts hps/ i want to use 2 ft long rectangle pots in a continual harvest with scrog. the pots are 9 inches wide so if i use 3 feet of width in the flower room i could have 4 different spots. 1 for 0-3 weeks, 1 for 3-6 week...so on.

i would start them in my veg chamber. 1 fem seed would be started every 3 weeks. i could fit 2 of these rectangle pots in the chamber. plan is to let each grow 6 weeks in the chamber...if that allows enough time to start filling out the screen. each pot is going to have its own screen nine inches x 2 feet.

does this sound crazy

Depending on how fast your strain veg's, six weeks may be too long. I know of a similar grow, 2x4/400w scrog, and three clones in seven gallon pots over took screen in less than four. Once switched to 12/12 the stretch had no where to go but up.

So in short, know your strain, keep them trained, flower at 40-70% of screen coverage.

And yes, top or fim them early on to get as many possible shoots to train.

It will look bare for a couple weeks but before you know it you'll be amazed how fill it gets almost overnight. Be conservative on your first scrog with a new strain as you don't want to chop it up halfway through flower or end up with overcrowding/mold issues.

thanks land. i was thinking at topping at 4 nodes. send half the length one way, and the other half the other way.

as far as prunng goes do you usually cut off most of the fan leaves on the main shoot and allow the small side buds to go through the screen?

jollygreenthumb just directed me towards this. seems to be pretty good if anyone was kinda following and had more qs too.
