ScroG vs LST

I was searching around trying to find a comparison of these two methods. I've found that some people LST before putting plants in a ScroG setup. If one just used LST would the efficiency/yield be the same as ScroG?

Probably not, but maybe someone with a real good LST mind could but SCROG seems easier to do and it really does use every available square foot of space.

Done correctly, a LST system will perform just as well as a SCROG, if not better.

I started out with SCROG and now LST. I find it more flexible and much easier to deal with. Screens and racks are cumbersome - I move my plants around alot for even light. Hard to do in tight spaces with screens.

I use insulated copper wire to hold the branches down to create a nice even, full canopy.

Any picks of the setup? I hate the screens in SCROGs too.

Yes, pics would be great as I'd rather not deal with screens if I didn't have to... but I...would make the ScroG sacrifice for larger yields. I also heard that it can be a real pain maneuvering underneath screens for plant maintenance.

Ahhhh a pic is worth a thousand words!!! That looks much easier than farting around with tying.

LST > Scrog.

So long as your plant is vegging you can fill out the same area with an LST. so the advantage of scrog is already beaten.
so why is LST > scrog if you can fill the same space you ask?

Easier to manage.
Easier to Repot
Easier to fix errors
No cubersome racks, screens, panels, boards, wood, rods.
one LST has filled out a dense area, you can untie the main cola, raise it, cut it and then have 2 whole new sites to start more LST with. (I seen one plant fill a large 4x4 foot area, takes forever though)
More options with tiedown with LST vs SCROG
LST WORKS OUTSIDE!!! yessum, keep those plants outside small and better hidden
and more, but im tired ;P

damn talk about reviving a thread..lol I've gotta go with the LST..still takes a little time, but definitely easier than scrog with similar results when done right

View attachment 1472186View attachment 1472187I tied this thing down an hour ago and the little top you see forming in the bottom corner is now an inch higher haha. 4 weeks veg here, responding well to training. I wanted to make sure the stem was thick enough to play around with.... One quesiton? Can I undo ties? I need to transplant this little breezy soon.

If you are LSTing for an even canopy then I'm going to have to argue that they are the same result wise. A good LST should have an even canopy and utilize 100% of the space and so should a good SCROG. LST is a bit more labor intensive but you are able to move your plants. SCROG is a bit less labor intensive as you don't need to make individual ties/wirings but can be a pain when it comes to access as they are all stuck to each other.

Both great strategies and to each his own.

I'm thinking scrog... but then I'd have to build a terrace around it. I got plenty of my girlfriend's knitting yarn around :-P so I'm using that for starts. I really hope I get some more tops by doing this... Did I start training too late? I tied it down on day 5 or sometime in the beginning and the stem grew so fast it pulled up the tie.... I have it more secure now. Shouldn't go anywhere, but when I transplant it, will I have to tie it all in the same place (will it be fragile when united)... Keep in mind I plan on trandplanting to big pot soon. Get this thing going strong.
