Scrog???

Hey everyone.... Im new to this and I keep seeing people using the scrog method. It looks very clever and orderly. Can anybody explain the reason to scrog? What benefits does it provide? Pros and cons? Also can any old joe do it or do you have to be an experienced grower to pull it off. Last question... Where do you get such a heavy duty piece of chicken wire from? I dont recall seeing anything like that at the hardware store.

Any info on the subject would be appreciated.

Screen of Green is a method, theorized to increase bud production on a plant. While at the same time keeping them low. Using a horizontal trellis to support the upper parts of the plants for an even canopy. A level line of buds that are the same distance to the light.

Plants can be topped. Manifold trimmed. All in an effort to get the plants to evenly fill the space on the screen.

Chicken wire isn't highly recommend. The plants will grow into the screen. When it comes time to harvest. You'll be cutting bud off the chicken wire. Better methods are making a screen out of wire or string. Something that can be removed from the plant without cutting it up.

Makes sense thanks. What happens to all the lower bud sites below the screen? do u crawl under and cut them off as they grow?

If the plants are kept low enough in relation to the screen. The majority of the bud is at screen level. Good luck trying reach under a big screen to trim anything. The main concern is the bud at the top of the screen. The parts exposed directly to the light.

If anything grows in the shadow of the canopy. Make cannabutter out it and call it even.

plants are pinched in veg to produce more meristems. these highest ones are individually sewn into each hole into the canopy until all the holes are filled, topping them as others catch up, ideally flowered at the same height uniformly. Plants are skirted to the bottom of the screen and air flow is increased under it. several advantages, including light coverage, single cola management, small space miracle, light penetration etc.
