Scrubbing with C02

This might be a dumb question but....

I have a carbon filter in my grow tent, Im also using C02. This will not work.

Would it be better to keep my C02 in the tent and put the carbon filter outside to reduce odor.

OR

Keep my filter inside the tent and just vent the air back into the grow room.

Im not worried about it getting too hot or anything just want my CO2 in my tent and the stank non-existent.

Really you need a controller to only exhaust the room when needed(high temp) it also will turn off your co2 when the exhaust is running to save co2.

I have the same question. Can't remember who but my favorite DWC guy on here has a DIY for CO2. It is a steady release 2 liter bottle with yeast and sugar. I wonder how effective it will be in my 2x4 with a 4" carbon scrubber running 23/7(I like the smell in the morning when I'm getting ready for the day). If I hang the CO2 in between will it get sucked up by my scrubber? With a 2x4x7 tent and a 205 cfm fan I am always at negative pressure with my vents open.

Edit: Wiimb ; That's the guy!

Sentinel controller Chhc-1 or CHHC-4 will fix ur prob. Check out ebay. There pricey but are nice to control everything.

Sigh...

@dtp - You cant vent air out and use CO2 because then your just sending it all outside where my plants are not.

@420 - I have a controller but as i said, my problem is not heat it is smell. (in fact its running cold in my grow room now and i just bought a 250 dollar air cooler)

@dougoly - I have 2 in my last grow it helped a little bit but theres other factors involved for it to be effective. Look on amazon for Exhale grow bags, I just got 2 that im currently using so not sure how good they are but them seem promising.

@theorganic - Damn thats a bomb ass controller that ill prolly get sometime in the future. But right now im just using these Exhale grow bags and also getting C02 from my mini winery under my plants :p CO2 is coming out ontop their little heads though

Now my question was...

Would it be better to keep my C02 in the tent and put the carbon filter outside the tent to reduce odor.

OR

Keep my filter inside the tent and just vent the air back into the grow room rather then venting it out.

OR (this ones new)

Run my filter normally venting outside but only have it on like for 15 minutes every hour or something like that.

The common setup for co2 is to put a fan on the filter and just circulate it. Then duct the lights, and havr your intake cone from outside grow area, pulling non-enriched air and leaving the enriched air

How would you run a filter outside the tent?

Clicking the fan on/off puts the most wear on it, you dont really want to dothat 12-18x per day

I dont have an intake fan currently in my tent. I have an extra fan but didnt think i should use it cause i was adding CO2. My lights are aircooled though.

What i was thinking by putting the fan just outside of the tent, the tent would act as a sort as semi-sealed grow room with the CO2. Im not worried about smell just outside of the tent necessarily, im more worried about smell seeping out of the room that the tent is in. So I could set it up right above the tent if that makes sense.

I was just wondering which would be better to do. That, or running the filter like you said and just circulate the air.

ok here it goes this is your answer ok

if you are running co2 and an carbon filter you will need a controller or two timmer if you dont have the $$ for an nice controller like the chhc1 or chhc4. you really dont need to run the carbon filter 24/7 i would say 1-2 while the lights are on and keep it on while the lights are off. so set your timmer on for the co2 when the lights come on and off about halfway threw the light cycle for about an 1-2hrs set your carbon filter on for that time then set your timmer to come back on after those 1-2hrs for the co2. This way you dont need to bring that air back into the room and just vent it outside of the tent. anymore ? just ask happy growing

ps that is just one way to set the timmer you can put them to what fits you best say if you know when your mailman come set for then or that ex old lady need to pick up the kid!!!

You don't need an intake fan. There's no better one, you do both of them.

Why didn't anyone answer the question put forth?

NO, your carbon filter will not reduce the quantity of co2 in the air. Carbon filters absorb volatile aromatic carbons VOCs.

LOL thank you! Im gonna keep my filter inside the tent, I just took off the ducting running outside. Ill be running it mostly when the lights are off and for about 4 or 5 hours when on (dont need the thing running 24/7)

haha i was gonna ask if the carbon filter absorbed the Co2 cuz i wasnt sure.

love it when people ask a question and they get 20 answers to questions they didnt ask
