Lookin for more variety in smoke and hoping to find some neat stuff. We like mostly indicas for sleep/pain/stress relief and like to seek out old nostalgia. I’m still learning Organics and learning how to better recycle my soil. I hope I get at least 1 solid plant worth keeping from this. Comments and critiques are welcome. More details later.

6 Neville’s G13 x Headband - Hazeman
6 Grape Bubba (Bubba Kush x Mendo purps) - Hazeman freebie
5 MTF bx4 (Matanuska Thunderfuck) - AK Bean Brains

I've had legit thunderfuck once it's a nice smoke so of it's anything like the old one it should be good mind you you would think the bubba cross and the headband cross would be decent too fingers crossed you find stuff worth keeping

I did a lot of “homework” reading through as many old threads as I could find on rollitup and other sites. It seems that Hazeman has a really solid bubba and headband. It also seems like he gets clone-onlys and backcrosses them and then breeds with the offspring. His headband is reported to be Loompa‘s headband cut, bx with purple urkle and supposed to be really solid overall. Someone here grew the grape bubba and MTF and they reported good things.

G13 is an old bucket list smoke for me. We used to get it around 2003-2007. I’m hoping to pick out the G13 leaners and learn their habits. I spoke to Hazeman, saying I was looking for G13 and he said he had some regs that had been sent to him a while ago from someone (a forum head). He told me that he grew them out and they were very close to his Neville’s G13 and G13 cuts. He offered me a pack, which I couldn’t pass up. When I get better at identifying the G, I’ll pop that pack, f2/OP and start a personal project.

I talked to Dave/AKBB last fall when I ordered and asked him - out of all your strains and experiences, is there anything in your collection that’s a true bucket list item, that’s really unique and special - and he said ”MTF”.

If the hunt goes well, these should be tasty and potent.

This is a new batch of recycled soil, still working on my formula/process.

I transplanted everything to 1 gallon pots finally. Life’s been busy with kids out of school for summer. I just checked some plants and saw some male preflowers. I went back through and checked my notes. I got the seeds wet on July 10th. It’s been just 4 weeks and they are starting to show their boy parts! 5/6 Grape Bubba and 1 MTF already look to be male. Bummer ratio on the Grape Bubba, but shit happens. The G-13 x Headband aren’t showing me anything yet. One of them is putting out 2 fans with 9 finger leaves already. Soil is pretty hot, and they were all stressed from forgetting a watering, then got watered heavily at transplant. I’ll say a couple Hail Mary-Janes and flog myself as penance and they’ll get over it.

One of the MTF has literally self healed, which I’ve never seen before. I topped everything, and it grew a top right out of the cut line. I’ve seen very tightly alternating tops from FIMs but not this.

First 2 pics, some nuts on the Grape Bubbas.

3rd pic, huge nut on an MTF

4th pic, the “self healing” MTF. Note the middle shoot, growing from where it was topped.

5th pic (top left last hopeful grape bubba) (4 MTF on right in 2x2 configuration)

Life’s been busy, my big fan crapped out on me, and I had to rearrange my setup and re-do everything. Turns out you can fry shit when you’re not an engineer and try to DIY things like your own centralized filtration system . Another $mall $etback, but recovered and ready to go. Everything is in 3 gallon pots now.

Next run will probably be 1 Saints Crossing (keeper, med stash), the 2 MTF, and the Grape Bubba. The G13 x Headbands will have to wait.

Pic: Top left = Grape Bubba. Bottom Left and Bottom Middle = MTF. Other 3 = Neville’s G13 x Headband. Topped, transplanted, slowly vegging along with no rush. Ready to transplant again (7 or 15 gal, not sure which), LST, and flip. Clones have been taken.

Hopefully that's the end of the problems then bud and it's smooth sailing here on out

Lol, those are never-ending, but at least the garden is organized.

Due to a warehouse inventory error, they offered to upgrade my filter to a larger size for free. Unfortunately it’s now too heavy to hang, and this setup is required to keep negative tent pressure for filtration. I’ll have to figure out a more permanent solution for the future. It weighs about 70 pounds :-(. It’s still 90*F outside and humid, so no rush to flower again or crowd the tent.

Tent is 5’x5’, 2 Viparspectra 2500’s and I’ve got an extra spider farmer 200 watt panel on standby if they decide to fight for the space in the middle. Filter is Kootenay standard line, KFI 750. Light ballasts are now mounted outside of tent for better heat dissipation.

Yeah you need someone to rig you up something to hold it tis a bit of a beast of a filter

Transplanted from 3 gallon to 15 gallon pots, watered in some coconut water and aloe, and mulched with rice hulls. Hopefully I get some time in the next few days to LST, prune, and recover, so that I can flip by next weekend. Grape Bubba (back left), Saints Crossing (front left), MTF bx4 2 phenos on the right.

The MTF bx4 phenos are very short, wide, and dense bushes. These will be a challenge. I need to get them to stretch out. The grape bubba is leaning away from the bubba side, tall and compact - doesn’t really spread out. Hopefully it doesn’t stretch a lot. The Saints Crossing is a neglected “new mom” from a few year old keeper. It’s faster to nurse this one back than to veg out the new cuts. This one is our main medical strain, and we need more of it, so it is what it is. There is a constant balance between “needs” and “trying new shit”, and I’m still trying to find the proper balance.

The Neville’s G13 x Headband will have to wait a bit (bottom pic). This filter swap conundrum fucked up my whole plan and setup and made me change direction. Oh well, make a left turn, and then keep moving forward.

Did a light defoliation and preliminary training session last night to the MTF and SC. The MTF are going to have really nice canopies and branch nicely. The other 2, well, they’re gonna be a bit of a pain in the ass but wel manage.

Grape Bubba is too tall and I topped it too high last time. I worked the stems back and forth until they were supple, and started to train the tops down a bit, to hopefully get some of them under that top support ring to spread it out. Shel get tied down in a day or 2.

I’ll probably have to put the SC on risers to keep it at the same height later on. SC already looking happier the day after transplant, especially the lower growth that’s getting its first good light. The branches I had to train are pretty old and hard, but it gave no fucks and took to it well.

Finally got caught up and flipped these girls on Oct 1st. We had a plumbing emergency, followed by a multi-day power outage due to storms. Things are back on track now and plants are doing ok. Grape Bubba is playing difficult, but I’ll bend her around a make it work. I can still raise the lights on that side another foot. Tent is a bit warmer than I like right now at 84*F. I ordered an 8” fan and new flange arrive that should arrive today, so I’ll get it dialed in soon.

Pics : 1 - group shot, 2 - the MTFs, 3 - Saints Crossing (left) and Grape Bubba (right).

Quick update and some pics. We are 4 days after flip, and the stretch has begun ! Not a lot to report, just doing their thing. I’ll probably lollipop and defoliate here a bit in the next few days.

Had to deploy some string and do a little bit of bondage on the Grape Bubba. I’ll keep tying her outward, I still have some horizontal space to play with. I brought in another light as reinforcement, for when that space gets taken soon.

Fired up the 3rd light at 50% to start lighting up the middle and have it high up to disperse the light more evenly. I’ll move it down and increase % as necessary. The plants on the left side plants are creepin in towards the middle, and need the light. I was hoping to keep that space clear for working, but they’re eating and growing fast. I hope my soil mix holds out.

The Spider Farmer light is a little bit different spectrum than the Viparspectra so it‘ll be nice to have variety in the spectrum. Plants are starting to set flowers, and canopies are lookin pretty good.

My current profile bud shot is from my last run of the Saint’s Crossing (front left plant, running it again).

Im really liking the shape on the MTFs as they stretch out (right side). They were vegging slowly, with huge leaves and really short internodes, but switching over to flower and then adding the extra light has given them a second gear, and they’re praying like nuns. I rotated the front right one to get more light and space.

The nodes on top of the Grape Bubba look to be shortening, so hopefully most of the stretch is over with. I was really hoping for a bubba-dominant one, but 1/6 females happened and I’ll have to revisit this pack later. If anyone has any good info on Mendo Purps (the other supposed parent in the cross) pass it on.

Saints Crossing doing its thing, not a huge stretcher, but a slow stacker that makes dense spears in the end. She’s pretty much done goin vertical, and ready to start stacking.

The plants all seem to be flowering about 3-4 days ahead of my normal expected schedule (day 11). We had a power outage from the hurricane for a few days, and I had to go downstairs and light them up with a flashlight for a few minutes every so often to keep everyone in veg. I’m thinking all the extra dark may have sped up their transition into flower, even though they were never in darkness for more than 8 hours straight.

I’m eager to see which plant starts to show frost first, as that seems to be an important trait in my experience. I’ll continue to lightly prune and defoliate every few days, as needed. They’re drinking about a gallon of plain water each day right now.

I got one of these little light meters to play around with and these numbers pretty much mean fuck-all to me, lol. I’m guessing I can probably push these plants harder. I don’t really do calculations like VPD or DLI/PPFD and still measure light distance by how warm it feels on the back of my hand. I started with using HPS and old habits die hard. I slowly increase my light strength to max out around mid flower, and then slowly fade it out to finish them off at the end.
