second grow need advice

Hey guys some I'm on my second grow now, my first grow I semi-screwed up due mainly to me being impatient. Due to area constraints I ended up only grabbing 2 plants for the flowering stage and one of them ended up being a male. The one plant yielded about 1.6oz on a 600w light, vegging was done under about 40-80w worth of CFL's depending on what stage it was at.

Anyway, I ordered a bunch of different seeds of attitude and have like 40 plants vegging now.... my question is do you guys normally "cull" the weaker plants that you notice in veg stage, since I have a few plants that are really lagging behind the rest as far as size etc. They are all being rotated and given the same nutes under a 600w @ 50%.

space isn't really an issue but it seems like kind of a waste keeping them around if they are roughly half the size of the other plants after about 3-4 weeks vegging, what do you guys think?

For those who are wondering the main strains I have are Ak48, Critical+, LA con, Afghan kush (DNA) and lots of freebies.

yeah if smaller, weaker plants cant keep up id get rid of them..

just a question, what light have you got 40 plants vegging under?, maybe thats why you have some smaller, ive had a few slow starters that ended up pissing all over the plants that grew quicker in veg. not in every case but it was in mine.
you should have started out vegging less plants, maybe then giving more light to the fewer you may have had different results.

no if you have the room keep themthay might be good in the end

well you probably dont have room for 40 mature plants, so getting rid of a few weak ones wont hurt.

well 1 600w light wont go very far if you have even 20 flowering plants crowded underneath it.
i'm just saying consider quality over quantity

The Ak48,Afghan Kush and Passion #1 are all reg seeds, the rest are female.

I have another 600w light as well, I'm just not using it for veg. Both lights use XXXL cooled reflectors and Quantum ballasts.

I'm using a 600w light at 50%. 24hr on

Sounds good man, just keep em all until they start to get in the way of each other.
Try to get as many females as you can and you'll come out with a good amount of smoke

Well I plan on taking clones from the reg. plants to determine sex.

It's also a possibility this spring to put a few outside to try and grow some monsters.

I'm going to either buy or make a cloner, I guess I just have to pick my favourite types to clone.... or I could just clone all the types I guess, 15 different stains excluding the 2 auto's.

get rid of the passion #1 theyre shite, just finished 2 and yield nor strength was nothing special, i wish id never bothered with them. the ppp and euforia made them look even worse standing next to each other. and mine were fems, i really wouldnt bother with regs in them.

I have these regulars all in 1 gallon pots, I forget.... but I guess roughly 3-4 weeks from seed.

In the next few days I'll have a bulb for my other 600w, so I think I'm just going to flower these as soon as I get the other bulb in instead of waiting and trying to clone them. If I want to grow more AK or Afghan in the future I'll just buy more seeds since they are pretty cheap to begin with.

The strains that I have that I'm most excited about are LA Con and Critical+. I've been doing some reading and the next seeds I think I'm going to buy are going to be TGA qrazy train.

Just put some of the Afghan Kush, all of the Ak48 and all of the Passion #1's into flowering.

Does anyone else notice that the Nirvana ak48's seem to "grow like retards"..... I have no other way to describe it, they just look weird right now.
