Seed Making with Wicks?

Being Cheap and broke I decided to to make some seeds using my spare Auto seeds.
From a thread about seed making using CS, I had a thought to make a self watering seeding rig.

I thought that I wanted to keep this isolated from my small veg-flowering room so I thought I'd use rig I made for cloning and sexing a few years ago.
Ths was a rough neck tube with a 50 watt burple LED panel in the top and a 2' fan with vent holes which I'd place over a 12 gal RN tub to hold the plants with a shelf holding the plants, in solo cups above a shallow rez and have wicks down into the rez to wick water into the solo cups from the lower rez.

I was thinking tht hurricane lamp wicks would b good to try as they are ~1/2" wide and should provide enough wicking to keep the solo cup filled with a fine soil pretty damp with out too much problem.

The shelf would be about 1-2 inches below the cups so it should work???

Anybody with wicking expierence care to advise me on this? I don't use soil much and never used a wicking rig before.

My idea was this could be completly self contained and out side my grow room. Tought I coud use CS to either self plant by treating one branch for making pollen and pollenate the other branches or CS a whole plant for pollen making and then use it to pollenate another plant, for crosses. I figure to use Femmed seeds so all the seeds produced would be fems too?

Am I on the right track or have a Bro'd here??

I can not believe that someone hasn't tried this wicking technique. So: Did it work?

Or: Does anyone have experience in selfing a plant with CS?

Seedlings or seeds? Neither require much water. The seeds should only need wettened once. Seedlings hate to be overwatered.

Seeds, you need to get to flowering stage to make them so it will take several weeks, say 10 weeks?
THe wicks are for "Fire and Forget" style ease of operation.
