seed question, help!

So I recently purchased some beans, germinated them in a cup of water and planted them in sunshine mix 4. Now i've been told to put saran wrap over my small cups to hold in the moisture and water the cup thoroughly before planting the seed in it. I did this and none of my seeds even popped out of the ground and after a few days the perlite in the mix started to turn green looked like algae. Any ideas of what I did wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated as I do not want to waste anymore expensive seeds lol.
Also I had the cup in a small aqaurium with a heatpad on the bottom and a 42w light a few inches above.

What you did wrong was listen to the moron who told you to put saran wrap over the cups. Germinating them in water probably didn't help matters any, but that alone and you might have been alright.

Sunshine Mix #4 is a decent mix for seedlings, you can plant your seeds into it directly and water...the moisture is going to stick around. Your seeds more than likely rotted due to being too wet (damping off). These are not orchids, they are not aquatic plants. Seedlings do not need high humidity to germinate or grow, just warmth and moisture; cannabis in general doesn't need high humidity for any stage of growth. The only circumstance that calls for high humidity is to facilitate the rooting of cuttings.

Plastic wrap works well to keep the humidity up in a cup but you have to poke holes in it for the plant to breathe. Two finger-sized holes at the edges usually makes for a nice environment. There should be just a little condensation in the middle of the plastic, where the seed is, with the rest of the wrap dry from slight air exchange. You also have to keep some room to grow between the soil surface and the plastic.

if you can't get the easiest part of the grow right, you're in for a rough few months....

yea thanks for the help, its not like i haven't done this before i'm just used to clones. Also i've never used soilless mixes
