I have over 400 strains, many still in breeder packs. My current storage is 6 various size/width secret safes in the form of books on my book shelf. It gets harder to find particular strains I want to grow and I have them pretty much sorted according to their packaging but I want something more singular, with room to expand and an easy way to store smaller containers for better sorting.

This is my idea.... curious if anyone has gone a similar route... ty...
 
Airtight container with some desiccant or rice.
Keeping it in the fridge is good but every time you take the seeds out you risk condensation.

head on over to hobby lobby and get yourself a neat container.
 
If you're going with a guitar case pick one that's better than that. A hard shell case that has foam insulation and gasket seals, something ATA rated and with locks. You'd have a fighting chance to control humidity over that thing.

All the same, hard to keep a big case like that at a good seed-storage temperature.

That won't ever fit in my refrigerator
 
This thread is a little tough to believe. 400 strains at an average of .. lets lowball at $50 a pack.
$20,000 worth of beans. Would love to see pics of this epic stash

I've estimated maybe 200-250 in this one, all in labeled baggies, many by yours truly

150-200 in the rest. ITs hard to see some of them, a lot are in plastic vials.

I keep a 'strain index' to keep it all organized.

But these aren't really mine. I downloaded the photos, if I had that many seeds I wouldn't admit it. Breeders and seedbanks keep that kind of stock.

I'm checking out some of these electronic humidors. man are some of these expensive. I don't think my seeds would fit, even in a larger one, unless I took them out of the breeder packs...

It isn't my friend, that's why I'm posting..

I see wine fridges don't have humidity control like humidors. I may get rid of the breeder packs to conserve on space and get a humidor...

You can use desiccant in the kind of space of a wine fridge and/or keep them in ziplocs with desiccant. But you really want to keep them cool. That's why most are storing in a fridge or freezer.
 
My wonderful friends on Rollitup.com. I am looking into a humidor and am curious what humidity level to keep my seeds. And also what temperature. I welcome all knowledge and expertise here...
 
Just to let anyone know who comes back here. AVOID most Wine Fridges and Humidors. They only cool down to between 50-70 degrees Fahrenheit. The seeds should be kept around 40 Fahrenheit. A temperature control mini fridge is the best option, many in the range of $300-$400.

There are some Wine Fridges that can be set to around 37 Farenhieit, but make sure of it in the specs.
