Seedling growth rates

How big would you say a seedling should be 7 days after putting the seed in water to begin germination? Mine started quickly and all have a set of real leaves. But they have sort of stalled and aren't getting a second set.

After they emerge from the soil, they typically slow down for a couple of days to establish their roots.

How tall at 7 days??.....it depends on germination time, depth of seed, overall health of the seed, and the genetics of your strain. As an average, I would expect them to germ for a couple of days, emerge after a couple more and then rest after the first set for another 3 days or so to grow roots. Sounds like everything is normal for you. :peace:

i germ'd 7 seeds 16 days ago, they had all opened 14 days ago and were put into rockwool under a 2x55 watt cfl, 9 days ago 4 were put into a dwc and 3 into soil( i hadn't expected 100% germing success!!), all under 400watt hps with almost perfect temps, and they are now all, apart from 1, around 3" in height with 4 true leaves and the dwc ones have good root production.

going from when they first pop out the soil under my 600w hps h.o. blue spectrum added bulb and a few small cfls(8-10 23w total) close (to help stop stretching as much as plants started under just hid normally do). at 7 days are around 4 or 5 inches tall working on starting node 5 or six. what type of lighting are you using and how far is it from the plants?

Dark!!That is kick-ass Progress in 1 week after seeing the light. You already have a good terminal node and 4 sets of true leaves following close behind. You ain't screwing around dude. :weed: Is that normal or do you have some cool hybrid vigor going on.:hump:

I gots to know!! With the 600 hps and the bonus cfl's are you doing things exactly as you want? My finger has been hovering above the buy now button on fleabay but I can't pull the trigger. No matter where you look there are just to many dammed options!! ARG.

im contemplating going up to a 1000w but im very happy with what ive got, i just like to keep upgrading as much as possible whenever possible. the cfls really help avoid the stretch you'd get just starting under a hid setup. im sure you'll do just as well with a similar setup. investing in hid is one of the best moves you'll ever make.
