Hello all,
I started 10 seeds on the 27th of November.
They comprise 6 different genetic backgrounds.
I have
1 Big Bud x NL fem
1 Blue Hash fem
1 ReCon fem
1 Rocklock fem
3 S.A.G.E. undetermined
3 F13 undetermined.
They have been growing in 18 oz party cups for two weeks. The medium is 4 parts perlite / 5 parts peat. (Practically 50/50.)
The wetting solution for the soil as well as the watering solution so far have been the same.
I am using 15ml of Canna Rhizotonic and 1/2 tsp. of Great White Mycos per gallon of water.
They have received no other food yet.
I have watered twice since the initial planting.
The first watering had an initial ph of about 6.7 and a run-off of about 4.5 (This sent me on a learning mission about ph of runoff versus ph of watering solution.)
The second watering had an intial ph of about 6.56 and a run-off of 7.4. I know I should shoot for 6.3-6.5. And I will hit it next time.
The second watering was on Friday which was 4 days ago.
Within a day of watering I noticed red rust spots on some of the leaves of some of the plants. But just one spot on one leaf of most plants.
By now the F13's in particular have multiple spots, slow growth, and leaf twisting a bit.
The Rocklock has gained a lot of brownish necrotic looking spots on a large amount of it's leaves. it has been the rapid grower/developer of this run so far.
I noticed one of the S.A.G.E.'s has spots and a yellowing 2nd leaf set too.
Most of these are just now working on their 3rd set of leaves. Seeing damage on the first two sets of leaves is most disheartening.
STATEMENT: I am sure I will be told I need to properly adjust my ph. I have been shown how to test and adjust the ph of my to be watered medium by a friend. Now I need to know what to do with the current state of my little ones.
QUESTION: 1. What do I do now? The soil is still damp from a recent water, but not too bad.
2. Do I water with ph adjusted water again now or do I wait until the next watering in the next few days? (I have an airstone set-up so my water will be oxygenated.)
3. Do I water with a mild fertilizer solution that has been ph adjusted since they have not had any food yet and they are starting their 3rd week? I want to do this, but I am really concerned with whether or not the ph issue needs to resolved first or if I can kill two birds wth one stone. I don't want to add to the problem.
Comments: I think when I was adusting the water for the first watering I didn't realize it was important to wait for the solution to adjust itself before watering. So that watering had UP and Down in it. I over DOWNed so then spent a lot of time adding little bits of UP. When I tested the solution later it had continued to go up after I watered. I think the second watering was done more carefully, but had an issue. I failed to purchase more testing solutions. I was reusing one of the buffer solutions from the first watering. This probably gave me a pretty bad reading. I was aware before and am now that this was pretty sloppy. But the cups were dry and it was late. Won't happen again. I bought a gross of each solution.
See the pics.
Ask questions.
Give advice.
Be nice.
Thank you!
P.S. This was prepared in the middle of the day. It had to be paused before finishing because the pics weren't finished uploading. So it is going up now. 12/14/11 at 2:12 am.
UPDATE: The Rocklock has grown a little taller and it's damage is more pronounced, but no new areas seem affected. One of the leaves of the F13 looked questionably like it was 30% necrotic spot before and is pretty well confirmed now. But for the most part the group looks like it is going along as expected. I think that transplanting to a reasonably larger container like 2 gallons is going to help and if anything is necessary.
