Seedling roots were "dead" little or no growth

I pulled the damn things otta the rockwool finnaly after week 2 to see what the problem was, and the roots or lack there of was jsut one little root kind of spiraling, they also had a brownish color to them. im getting some more test bag seeds tomarrow to start over any ideas what i might have done wrong?

I have had a similar problem where my seeds will crack and show root but will never sprout. I think my problem was that i let them soak too long. I would leave them in a cup of distilled water until they cracked and showed root and then planted them. I found out that soaking them too long, can damage the roots. You should only soak the seeds for 12hrs and then transfer them to paper towel to finish germing.
