Seedlings stretching too much, falling over

How's it going everyone at Rollitup? This is my first post and I'm hoping you guys might be able to give me a couple tips.

I'm a medical grower with 10 patients under my belt and I'm working on my first grow op.

At the moment I have about 50 seedlings in Rockwool on their way, I'm using clonex nutrients mixed with water of aprox 6 PH. I am using a 600W Metal Hallide light for seedling growth.

The seeds have been growing for about a week or so now and some of them are stretching like CRAZY! to the point of 1/3 of all my plants have fallen and are no longer growing upwards.

My light is about 3 feet away from the plants,, is that too far or too close? Or is there some other reason for this to be happening?

I am using paperclips ATM to support the plants but i just want them to stop stretching and start strengthening their stems.

Any help would be highly appreciated, thanks!

replant them. Take the streched ones and put them deeper into the soil about a inch away from the bottom leaves. You could probly bring that light down about 12 to 15 inchs. When they get two sets of leaves you can bring the light down some more test it with your hand if it burns your hand its to close(hold it there for a min or 2) Get a fan moving around (not directly on them).

I would love to replant them hah but I'm not using soil I'm using rockwool cubes,, once they are ready i'm throwing them into my aeroponic system.

Dude thats WAY to far from them.. Put the light as close to possible to the plants. Put your hand at the top of the canopy. IF ITS TO HOT FOR YOUR HAND ITS TOO HOT FOR THE PLANTS. Thats a good rule to go by. Prop the rest of the stretched ones up with some little sticks and ties or something get creative. Just get those lights way down.. ive never used a mh but HPS lights are good about 18'' from plant.
