Seeds in fridge, door left open, hot garage

So, I just came back from a week away from home to find my seed storage fridge in the garage and the door had popped open. The garage is not temp controlled and it’s summer here in TX. I’m sure the garage was hot all day, the seed container itself did not feel too hot, but the fridge itself was warm and muggy.

Any way my seeds survived?

Germ them, I’m willing to bet they’re ok

One way to find out. But moisture is a bigger threat than heat for seed storage

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking. I may take one seed from each pack and test them. I do have them stored in an airtight jar with desiccants. It’s my whole collection from years of collecting with quite a few pricey/irreplaceable packs. Really hope they’re ok.

I wouldn't recommend storing seeds anywhere condensation is possible. Put them in a place you'd put medicine like a cool dark closet. We had seeds that went from outside to inside in one of those lil plastic vials and the change from hot to cold created condensation in the little vial and we had to pop them immediately. If I wouldn't have noticed they probably would've died.
