Set Up advice. Tent, Light, Fans. Fresh answers

Im not trying to pay too much right now but i want to get a little set up going.
I have been all through the forums but it doesnt hurt to get some fresh answers.

im trying to keep it relatively small as i live in an apartment.
ill have no problem buying new equipment in the future. if i want to upgrade.

my house stays at about 69-75 degrees & its winter time in maryland right now.
so idk what heat issues i will have but i need fan advice also.

So my questions are which to buy?

Can you vent it out? It won't work if you can't vent it....

So I was in your shoes recently, I just vent out the door into another room and I have no problems. I recommend looking for a 600w cooltube package with a dimmable ballast. This will give you alot more control if temperature and electricity becomes a problem. I run my 600w cooltube on a 4inch fan that is cheap. I run the full 600w atm although it's British winter here and my flats quite cold. The best things you can do in regards to fan noise is 1) buy a fan Speed controller, I got mine for about £10 off amazon and gives me further control over temperature and I only run on half speed atm so less noise
2) acoustic ducting is pretty effective and cheap. I also cut some length ways, and used it to envelope my fan reducing noise further (gaffa tape useful)
3) hang fan with bungees.

Also I found grow kits cheaper and better quality on ebay as opposed to amazon

yea venting out should be fine. it will be in my bedroom. its a big room with a window for fresh air. so that should be fine right? do i need to have the exhaust duct going to the window?

why should i use a cooltube instead of a cool hood?

I have no experience with air cooled hood however I have heard they spread the light better than a cool tube but stay slightly warmer. I can only advise on what I'm familiar with and I love my cooltube, I can get it real close to my plants without burning them. Although I'm sure an air cooled hood would be just as good

you dont have to vent right to the window being that it is winter. It would be wise to vent straight outside in the summer or the room being vented too will likely be to hot for comfort.

@YerpGodMarley the proper fan size is one that can move all of the air inside your tent in about a minute. Figure out your tent's cubic feet and get a fan faster than that.

You'll also want the speed controller mentioned elsewhere. And don't forget a really good filter. A good carbon-activated filter (search here for TON'S of reccomendations) will keep 100% of the canna odor out of the air. Good luck!
