Setup question

I am considering starting a new soil perpetual grow. The growing medium will be ocean forest soil, and will be using organic ferts as needed.

I have some questions about the logic of my setup for you more seasoned growers.

I'm planning on growing a strain with an 8 week flowering time that has a decent yield.

Ok for the basic breakdown, i want a veg room where i'll take my rooted clones into. The room is 5x5ft with a 1000w mh. The room will have 4 plants that are 1-4weeks on one side and 4 plants that are 5-8 weeks on the other side. 16/8 light schedule.

The flowering room is 5x5ft as well with a 1000w hps. The room will be split with first four weeks of flowering on one side and last four weeks on the other. 12/12 lights schedule

So the basic concept is that every four weeks the plants get rotated. Plants will have grown about four months when being harvested. 8 weeks veg/8 weeks flower.

All plants will start as clones not seeds, and will be put in veg room when roots get established (7-10 days).

So my basic questions are:
1. Does this sound logical?
2. Any good strain suggestions?
3. Could I expect to get 2+oz per plant? (No co2, and assuming i keep all variables under control like temp, critters etc.)

All help and input would be appreciated.

Sounds like you did a little research!

It will be hard to get a strain to finish exactly when you want it.

But once you get a mother you will be able to get pretty consistent harvests.

So yes to #1 it sounds very logical.

#2 i would suggest something like: SAGE by TH Seeds, Super Bud by GHS, Or Kings Kush which im growing now.

#3 Yes you can easily get over 2 oz per plant as long as you put them in big enough pots.

Id say something between 5 and 10 gallons would be nice since you only have 8 total plants in flower at a time.

With the Kings Kush im growin im lookin at easily 2 OZ per plant and i have 4 under a 600 watt.

Also, what do you think of the 8 week veg? Sound good or is it overkill?

Sounds like a bad ass set up. I would also recommend using the fox farm ferts as well. Use fox farm Grow Big for veg and fox farm big bloom and tiger bloom for flowering. start off with 1/4 of what the directions for use call for and work your way up. Your plants might be able to take more than a 1/4 strength but this is something you will learn about your strain after a few harvests. I have found that this combo is a very effective way to get high yields usually without having to worry about any plant deficiencies or other problems as long as you start out slow on the ferts. but you can easily get 2oz+ a plant with this set up. after a few harvests you will probably be able to increase yields once you learn more about the strain, such as how much ferts it can handle without getting any burn etc. but it seems like you pretty much got it under control and have some good quality medicine coming in the near future!

That sounds fine.

The way you plan is similar to how i run mine.

I veg my plants until the other ones are ready so after cloning (7-10 days) its about 6-7 weeks of veg before they hit flower because my strain takes about 8 weeks.

So yes you should def veg for 8 especially if youre only growing 8 plants in flower.

Nope looks like you got everything under control.

Just make sure you do some dry runs so you can get accurate temps and your heat under control before you have things that can die in there. haha

What kind of fans do you plan to use to cool that 1000 Watter? and are you using a cooltube?

Other than that all i can suggest is switching from FF ocean forest to Pro-Mix.

Theyre basically the same thing except promix is 1/2 to 1/4 the price.

For me the 1.5 cubic foot is about $25 and i can get 2 cubes of 3.5 cubic foot of promix for about that much.

I think I might go with promix for my next cycle and try it out if it is that must cheaper and similar. I usually use ocean forest as well and your right the FF is about $25 for that size.

yupp my very first grow i used FFOF because i always saw people who were startin out use it.

Then switched to promix one day and never went back. SOOOOOOOOOOOO much cheaper.

And when your payin for dirt you expect it to be DIRT CHEAP hahaha

Novice here, But did you consider a 600w . Why did you choose to go with the 1000w ?

my only suggestion is that the 1000 mh in such a small rom might be overkill and too much heat. but all in all it sounds like you have been thinking about this for a while. i got a strain recently that finishes in 42 days its called kish. i have also grown astro queen which is an 8 wk flower plant a great plant lots of flavor and good yield i got at least 2 zips a plant once i had bit dialed in
