Sexing.....

Anyone have any ideas whether or not this is a male,, this is my first grow, really hope its not, its the pick of the bunch. Brief discription: on the second node of the plant there is one big pod like growth and on the next node up there lokks like about 4 of the same growths,

Looks like male. The pre flowers are large enough that if it were a female, you'd have two white pistils coming out the tips of those clusters by now. For sure male.

yeah, looks like a pollen sac, a calyx isnt raised on a small stem-like protrusion like that nor will they ever be and i dont know if its just me but all the males i seen have the same behavior, vigorous growth and a particular color to them, i can just spot them before pre-flower even most of the time but still make sure of their sex anyways and it could be herm, can only see the first pic well enough but yeah, give it a kick in the balls lol
