According to people I know, shake is the crumbs at the bottom of the bag of buds and trim is the leaves off the bud. This woman gives me a giant tub of some part of the plant and says it is shake. It is very well cured, no mildew or mold smell, but no kind of weed smell at all. I say this is not shake, do you mean trim maybe? She says, no this is not trim, it is shake. I say i don't know what to do with this because I was expecting the stuff at the bottom of a bud bag when you said shake. She says you take it and freeze it then soak it in pure grain alcohol and ice and make oil, butter, all kinds of stuff... So I'm thinking wax? But I've read a lot and think it may be sugar leaves/fan leaves and stems but ultimately it smells like grass, not a hint of weed so her insisting it was not trim and that it is shake has me confused because I'm not a grower, don't know grower terminology and don't know what this is exactly in my own terminology besides trash it may be? Sifted the whole bucket, no buds at all... what is it and how can I best concentrate any potency if there is any? And clearly I'm inexperienced so break it down if you know a method please... and thank you...

What you are describing sounds like trim or maybe a mix or sugar trim and first trim material. No smell and hay says first trim to me and that is weak because I cure all my sugar leaf and manicure trim except first trim and that goes in a tub and at some point to bubble hash. I dry different so even my first trim has smell. The old way I did it would leave me with a pile of green smelling hay when dry.

You could try and make Rosin with a straight Iron or Tee shirt press but sounds like it is not fresh.
You could try for some wax.

Or what that guy up there just posted as I was typing.

Thanks, it is like what you described, so it's first trim and weak... so let me go to the concentrates forum you all mentioned and ask them what method to use with it. Thanks for the feedback.

Ya, that is what I thought shake was, bottom of the jar, but she was talking about fan leaves I'm concluding now...so now I got to figure out what to do with it. It also has stems in it, so I think it's just trash and I can't do anything with it?
It's usually pretty low- grade, but not totally useless. If you want to use it I would put it thru a coffee grinder or similar and get it as powdery as possible. Then you can decarb it in the oven at 250f for 30mins and use it in "00" capsules, put it in a mason jar with coconut oil or butter and double boil for 12-24hrs, some even bake with it and call it "canna-flour". If any pieces are big enough to look at with a magnifier that may tell you if there are any trichomes around...

Thanks so much for your help... I'm discouraged but not going to invest deeper into making something out of it now that I know what it is I'm dealing with. I looked up the coconut oil decarboxylation method that seems like a good idea.
