So this morning I checked on my plant and guess what? We have an immaculate conception! 1 plant in the closet and now I have seeds. I guess somewhere on her a penis formed and pollinated some buds but I can't find any pollen sacks anywhere. It doesnt look like all the buds are pollinated but most are. Does this mean my stuff wont be as potent? I'm so pissed I can't believe this.

Can I still get a nice personal stash from a seeded plant?

plants do that. they decide to hate us and randomly generate body parts they shouldnt have.. i wish i could do that..
anyways, your shit will be less potent for sure because all the energy that went into creating the seeds would normally be used to create bud/trichs.
you will still have some good bud though.. and you have free seeds so you can keep on going..!!

if there was only 1 plant by its self then it turned hermi..u can still smoke it and use the seeds..altho it wont be as good as if it was a straight female.

Wow well that sucks! Less potent and seeds I can't use. Beautiful! lol Well I guess I gained alot of knowledge for the next grow.

I did have a male in the same closet with her but I pulled him as soon as I could tell he was male. Is it still possible he pollinated her? Because I really don't see any pollen sacks on this plant. I don't want to throw the seeds away if she is not a hermi.

no no no you can still use those seeds and smoke that but but it will be less potent but the seeds will be more likely hermi but there is still like a 90% they will be fine

Someone correct me if I a wrong but its my understanding that if a plant was STRESSED and it turned hermie the resulting seeds would be like any other seed with the same chance for hermie. But, if the hermie formation was in the seed, genetics, to begin with than yes,the seeds are more likely to be hermie. How you would tell why if it was stress or genetics though, I don't know.

Your smoke should be ok. It won't be as potent if it didn't have seeds but if the strain is decent, it should still be decent smoke for personal use.

How about a close up of her. Often when the plant is nearly done with flowering they will produce this little pod that either looks like a seed or this banana looking thing. They are considered to be swollen calyxs. There's probably no seeds just swollen ready parts the plant is producing. It really isn't that unusual. If you can squeeze one, chances are that there is nothing in it except a few hairs. luck

I used tweezers to squeeze one and a nice large brown seed came out.:cry:

if it was stressed to be hermi some of the seeds can be used and some will be hermi. self sexing creates a lot of defects.
if it was a hermi to begin with most likely that the vast majority of the seeds will be hermies.
anyhow, the plant becomes hermi under stress and it could just have a lower bar to become hermi - it is probably not as strong as others to begin with.

ive read that plants that go hermi from light leaks, and self polinate, are more likely to be female. and that this is how a lot of places make fem seeds. i read it in cervantes grow bible, in the selfing section.

i am personally testing this now. my current grow is 90% from my last plant the indeed went hermi from light leaks about halfway through flower. if all or almost all of those end up fem i guess its true. if i get lots of hermis well i guess its not. i will know in about 3 weeks i think.

self pollinating is way inferior to famale pollinating a female plant - which is how feminized seeds are produces.
before you stress out a plant to a hermi you might wanna check it for defects prior to the seeds making by going thru a cicle and then stressing a clone of a known good plant.

it will produce feminized seeds because it will have no male genes.

Look for the maie sex parts and rip them out. You could still end up with a good smoke. Although I imagine the damage has already been done.

a higher nitrogen concentration will give more females.
a higher potassium concentration will give more males.
a higher humidity will give more females.
a lower temperature will give more females.
more blue light will give more females.
Fewer hours of light will give more females.
