short busy plant questions

Hey guys, I have a plant that I grew from seed and it is at 5 weeks in veg 18/6.

very healthy looking plant, and growing fresh leaves daily almost. The plant it self isn't growing tall much, at 5 weeks it is only 7 inches tall. its getting bushy as well,

I had them in party cups for 3 weeks, and then transplanted in a 3 gallon pot with FFOF.

now my question is, I only did 1 one other grow, and I flowered them at 5 weeks. they were much taller, (1 ft) and just started to alternate nodes.

my current grow isn't like this... Should I flower anyways at 5 weeks (now) or wait until they get taller and alternate nodes?...

I also dont want them taller than 2ish feet (2.5 give or take).

thanks guys

I would let them grow until preflowers are seen. They will appear on the main stem right where branches come out. You'll see some single flowers - 2 white hairs and you have a female ready to flower.
The bushiness can be caused by either strain/genes, but it could also be because of imperfect growing conditions.
