Hello everyone!
so I am 6 weeks from seed into my second grow. Still in veg. Coco/perlite, GH flora trio with CaliMagic always about a 6ph when watering and runoff is about the same (always at least 20% runoff but almost always more than that). I’m very happy with how this grow is going so far but after topping the two girls, one shot up as expected and the other stayed short and bushy and really pumped a lot of energy into some BIG fan leaves that dwarf my hands. She still has about 7 tops on her and I’m cool with that but I was hoping it would get as tall as her sister. I feel like if I wait much longer than a week my tent height will become an issue after the stretch in flower. I should mention these are totally different strains, both photo-period, the short one is Obi-Wan and the tall one is Berry White.
I’m planning to flip to flower next week and I’m not using a net or anything so I’m wondering when you guys would suggest defoliating and how much/where from? I’ve seen some pretty aggressive defoliation videos where they basically take every damn leaf off the entire plant big or small and I don’t think I’m up for that. It seems unnecessary and very risky.
I’m thinking of stripping the bottom 20-25% of everything and then some of the larger overlapping fan leaves up top. Should I do it all at once? Should I do it now? Should I transplant up at the same time or sooner? (3gal to 7gal) should I defoliate the night of the flip instead? So many questions!
Anything you guys can answer or suggest would be awesome! Even just a link to a good thread or video you like would be greatly appreciated.
